7 months old

Sophia is 7 months old today. This outfit was Ansley's that she wore to Pipers tye dye birthday party.

Helping dad with yard work

Justin was out working in the yard and the boys got the water hose out and of course got soaked. They both came in to get dry. They both put on underwear and then head back out. I just let them... Jonah has put his rain boots on and is helping daddy with the dead tree.

We went to Hooters with The Yarbroughs for dinner tonight. This is what Jonah drew on the back of his menu. It is now framed and hanging in his bathroom.

Get your guns up

First game of the season.

WHAT did you say? Where did you hear that?

So this post is a little hard to write about... I actually think I am still in shock that I heard it out of my 7 year olds mouth! So let me set the scene. Justin is out of town for the Tech/UT game, mom and dad were over at our house hanging some curtains and as we were moving the furniture back Jonah comes down the stairs and into the living room and says, "well, hellllloooooo mr. douche bag". WHAT? I looked at him and then at my mom and dad wondering if I had heard it correctly. Well, I obviously did judging by the look on their faces. I looked at Jonah and asked him where he heard that and he told me he did not know. I told him that it is NOT appropriate and his response was, "whaaaaat, I didn't know it was bad".

My dad took over the conversation and told him that it is not a nice thing to say and that adults do not even talk like that. I totally had to walk out of the room before I busted a gut! I gained my composure and walked back in and asked him where he heard that and then lost it, I could not look at him seriously... of course he started smiling and I had to leave the room. I know... mature! I just could NOT believe he said that or imagine where he would have heard it.

The bedroom is ready for Mimi's surprise party

We were planning a surprise party for my moms 60th birthday at our house so I was really in a crunch to get things done! Nothing like having a party at your house to light a fire under your rear and get it done! A few months ago I had bought all the fabric to make the bedding, curtains and shams for my room, I had just failed to take it somewhere to have it all made. So, two weeks before moms party mom and I took it to Berkley Fabrics and asked them to make it all. They told me they could have it all made in two weeks! HOLY COW... that would be just in time for moms party. I was SO EXCITED!

So we set the date for them to come deliver and hang the curtains Friday morning at 9:00 the day before the party. I know, it was cutting it close... you don't even know how close! Wednesday night at 5:00 I get a phone call from Berkley saying that the fabric I bought for the back of the duvet had two big spots on it! WHAT? I had bought the fabric from them in the remnants pile. They then asked if I had back up fabric... REALLY, who buys back up fabric? I told them I did not and so she asked if I could come up there and look to see if I could find another fabric to use. I said sure and asked what time they close, her response... 6:00. Not only was it 5:00 but Justin was working late and I had to get Luke to his soccer game at 6:00 and Jonah to soccer practice at 6:00. Really, I had NO clue how that was going to happen. My mom said that she could take Luke to his game and I could take Jonah. Perfect! So now it is about 5:15 and Justin calls and says he got out of work and is on his way and can take one of the boys. Whew

I call my mom and tell her that Justin is coming home and instead of her taking Luke to the game if she can run to the fabric store to approve another fabric. Thank goodness she could. She got there and said she found one that looked great and went ahead and told them to use it. Mom asked them if they were still able to deliver on Friday morning at 9:00 and they assured her that they would.

So of course they are there right at 9:00 Friday morning to deliver. They get done and I was so happy with the turn out. I wanted to call mom so bad and tell her how great it looked. Well, I could not do that! I knew if I did then she would want to come over after work and see it. I could not let her come because we had stuff all over the house getting ready for her surprise party. Well, she called and... I lied and said that since they had the problem with the fabric it would be Monday before they could bring it. I think she bought it :)

Pretty sure this is NOT safe Papa

While Justin was in Lubbock my dad said that he would come and hang the new curtains for the living room. I told him that he should make Justin do it :) Well, he could not stand it so he did it. I was scared to death for him to climb that high on a ladder like that. They sure look awesome though! Thanks dad. Justin sure owes you one!

Dynamite and Hurricanes

The boys had their first game of the season today. Jonah's team that he has been on since he started did not make since they did not have a coach. He got put on a new team and think the coaches are great! He also moved to the bigger field this season. Luke had an 8:00 and Jonah played at 4:45. I am pretty sure that at Jonah's game we melted. It was blazing hot out there. We had plenty of water and umbrellas for shade.

Jonah scored a goal, which is not usual because he is a defender. He took the ball over half way down the field and kicked it in. He usually just gives the ball one good kick and does not follow through. He was so excited and we were so proud of him.

Luke played a great game too. He was actually getting into it and kicking the ball, not just running with it.

10 years

Justin and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary today! We almost do not even have to talk to one another because we know what the other is thinking :) When we were getting ready this morning I started saying that I could not believe it had been 10 years, 3 kids, 2 houses 5 cars later and here we are and he starting laughing. I did not know why until after I opened and read his card, that is basically everything that he had written in the card.

We dropped the kids off at my parents and went to eat dinner at Mignon. This is one of our favorite places to eat and they have this yummy drink that I love. It is called LaOrange, check out the picture below.

We had a nice quite dinner and on our way to pick the kids up we laughed that we had only been gone for an hour and 20 minutes. Well, it was a good thing judging by the look on moms face when we walked in. I asked what happened and she said that Sophia had been screaming the entire time we were gone. She said that they gave her Tylenol, Little Tummies and Orajel and nothing was working. Well, as soon as she saw me she started smiling... she missed her momma!

She is going through this phase of mommy mommy mommy right now. She freaks out if I walk out of the room or even set her down and start to walk away. Let's just say that mommy is pooped these days.

Jonah is 7 years old

Jonah turned 7 years old today! We have not had an official party for him yet, we were waiting for him to meet some new friends at the new school. On the day of his birthday I took some cookies up to school for his class. Oh, the things we do for our children... This was the day that it rained and it rained and it rained, it did not stop ALL day long. Sophia had a doctors appointment that morning so getting in and out of the car we got soaked. Once we got to the school to drop off the cookies and bottles of water it was pouring. I knew I could not get Sophia in the stroller without getting soaked so I grabbed her, the cookies and the waters and we made a run for it. Of course the wind catches my umbrella and turns it inside out and Sophia and I are dripping by the time we get into the school. I hope those were some good cookies :)

Cupcakes at Mimi and Papas after basta and meatballs for lunch
He was super excited about his new Lego Star Wars set!
Since we did not have a party planned I surprised Jonah by calling some friends to meet us at Nana Yogurt after school for a treat. Ethan, Landry, Jonah and Caden. Below are two happy boys when they woke up to see that mommy had worked a few hours after they went to bed to get the At At that Mimi, Papa, Uncle Nic and Aunt Carlie got him for his birthday built.

Yellow Day at school

Today was wear yellow day at school. I of course can't remember why but... they are wearing yellow. Kim picked up the shirts for me at Hobby Lobby last night so I washed them and then had them ready for the boys this morning. When Jonah put his on the sleeves were REALLY short and the shirt was really narrow. I think they were girl shirts so I had to think quick so I just cut the sleeves out! Good thing the shirts were only $3.

Lunch with the boys

Sophia and I headed up to the school to eat lunch with the boys. Luke eats at 10:30 and Jonah at 11:00. The only place that serves lunch that early is Sonic. I could not believe how many of the kids actually do not eat! The last five minutes of lunch the teacher makes an announcement that it is "chow time", that means no talking and only eating. All the kids actually did pretty well with it.

I also learned that a hot lunch consists of FIVE cheese sticks as a main course... and that is the reason I make the boys lunch, as much as I do not like making them I just think of that!
