Justin's first wood ducks
It strikes again! Fifths Disease
Today the boys did not have school due to a teacher in service day. They were so excited because they were getting a four day weekend since Monday is Martin Luther King Day. When Jonah woke up his cheeks were so red they almost looked purple. I asked him if he felt ok and he said yes. I decided to take his temp and it was only 99.0. He told me that nothing else hurt and he felt fine. He was even eating like a horse all day. A couple of hours went by and he cheeks were worse so I did the full body check and sure enough he had the red lacy like rash on his arms. I called the doctor and talked to the nurse and told her that a few weeks ago I had Parvo and she said that is what it sounded like he had with all of his symptoms.
My sister and the kids came into town for the long weekend but when they got here Zane was throwing up and ended up at the urgent care and had strep. We did not even get to see them while they were here. I did not want to chance it seeing as how I had all three kids sick last week.

Big Day for The Morton Boys
Putting on shoes... ONE of the things I dread every morning. As most of you know every morning in The Morton house it seems as if WWIII is about to bust out! It is seriously OUT OF CONTROL. It really is simple... you wake up, eat breakfast, get dressed, brush teeth and hair then put your shoes on. Every night before bed we lay out clothes that YOU pick out to wear the next day, down to the socks and underwear. Mommy even packs lunches except the main course at night and packs backpacks so we can just move and groove right out the door in the mornings. Oh if it were only that simple.
After all the jacking around mommy and daddy can take we tell you to PUT YOUR SHOES ON for the 10th time and here comes the moans and the groans... stupid shoes, stupid laces, why do they have to be so long, these people are stupid who made these shoes... bla bla bla
We have been trying for TWO years to teach Jonah to tie his shoes. He always gives up and says how stupid it is because he cannot do it. He is a perfectionist and if it does not happen the first time he gives up. He is also a lefty so it is hard for me to teach him. He just stopped trying... until today! Luke has been asking how to tie for a few weeks and he sat down and said, "OK mommy, I looped it, now do I swoop it"? I got beside him to watch and HE DID IT!!!!!! YEA LUKIE. He was so excited and could not stop smiling. Then the dreaded words EVERY big brother hates to hear came out of Luke's mouth. "Mommy, I can tie my shoe and Jonah can't? That's weird". Put your seat belt on folks... here we go!
Jonah was going to have NONE of that mess, little brother knowing how to tie and not him. He sat down, did it with a poor attitude the entire time and glare in his evil little eye and DID IT!!! He started to smile but then stopped... I looked at him with a huge smile and told him he better not smile just because he TIED HIS SHOE! He grabbed his mouth and smiled so big I could see it :)
I was screaming with excitement... I was oh so excited for them but even more so for ME ME ME! YEA ME :)
Since then Luke ties and unties and ties again everything he can. Jonah still gets a little frustrated but tries so hard. I am so proud of my little guys!

Goodbye Magic blanket... aka blank
Today was a very, very sad day for Lukie. We had to put blank to rest. This is the Barefoot Dreams blanket that Luke stole from Justin and I. He fell in love with this blanket a fews years ago and slept with it every single night! He named it blank... short for blanket. I would wash this blanket once a week or so because he would drag this thing all over the house. I have not been able to wash it for the past few months because it was already in shreds and knew that the machine would tear it up even more. There were so many holes in this thing that he had to wrap it around him just to cover them all. I have been telling him for a while that we were going to have to look into getting a new blanket because this one was SO disgusting.
He loved the blanket when he was home... we never took it with us for sleepovers or when we went out of town or anything and he would never ask for it either.
Well... Sunday night he was not feeling well and he told me that he thought he was going to be sick. I told him that if he felt like he was going to get sick to get out of bed and go to the toilet and I would hear him and then to come down and get me if I did not. About 2:00 Sunday night he came to my room telling me he did not feel good and asked to sleep with me. I asked if he felt ok and if he needed to use the toilet. He told me he was ok.
That morning I asked him how he felt and told him I was so glad he never got sick. He looked at me and said, "I did throw up". I asked when and he told me last night and so I asked him where and he said, "in my bed". So 5 hours later I go up and sure enough... there was a pile in his bed! It was all over his blanket and there was NO way that was going in the wash, it would have torn the blanket to shreds. I got a trash bag and told Luke he needed to say goodbye to his blank. He got this look on his face and I teared up, I felt so bad for him. He grabbed his eyes and said they were watering. I told him it was OK to cry if he wanted and then he just hugged me :( . He was soooooo sad. I put him to bed the next night and he did not say one word about blank so who knows... he is either really good at keeping things in or he really is over it.

This is how Texans do snow... white trash style!
This morning we woke up to rain and it rained until about 11:00 and then turned into snow! It was really coming down, I think we got 4 inches or so. Jonah and Luke were at Mimi and Papa's house when it started and could not wait to get out and play in it. Justin and I gathered some clothes for the boys and headed over to mom and dads. We of course do not have proper snow attire so this is what we came up with. We only had tennis shoes and did not want their feet to get wet so mom came up with the idea of bags and Papa said, "get the painters tape". That's how we do it white trash style!

Sophia has what?

Here we go...
Sophia has been walking along side the couch for a few days but today she started pushing a chair all over the kitchen. I do not think momma is ready for this. My baby girl is growing up too fast!

New Years Day Christmas with The Pooles
Today we did Christmas with Uncle Don, Aunt Karen, Grannie, Aunt Jo, Julie, Ranick and the kids. We did it at our house this year and Aunt Karen made her yummy brisket and we had baked potatoes, salad, buffalo chicken dip and some yummy desserts.
The kids shirts and the girls tutu's were another one of my adventures in sewing. I thought they turned out pretty cute, even though my boys were not very thrilled to wear them.
Ticket City Bowl: TEXAS TECH and Northwestern
The boys have been wanting to go to a football game with Justin. The Red Raiders were playing in the Ticket City Bowl at The Cotton Bowl so Justin and the boys layered up for the big game. They were so excited, they got to have a Dr. Pepper, nachos, a pretzel and who knows what else that afternoon. They both fell asleep on the way home. The score was 45 to 38.
