People always say just how crazy the weather is in TX. Monday was just a regular school day followed up with some homework. We knew that they were calling for freezing rain during the night but we were not prepared for what was about to hit. When we woke up Tuesday we get the call about school being closed for bad weather. It was horrible, it was sleet most of the night and with the temps in the teens it turned into a solid sheet of ice. After a few hours of sleet it then turned to snow. It was so pretty and the boys wanted to go and play in it but it was a solid sheet of ice under the snow. I did not want them out there by themselves and I could not take Sophia out there because I knew that I would fall on the ice... its just my nature :).
So Tuesday came and went and we got to Wednesday... School cancelled AGAIN... then Thursday... cancelled AGAIN then Friday, guess what... CANCELLED AGAIN! HOLY COW we were going stir crazy, the boys were bored to tears and Sophia was teething and was NOT a happy camper for those days.
Friday we woke up to SIX inches of snow, it was unbelievable and it kept coming. Justin was determined to make it to Starbucks since we had been stuck in the house all week. He decided to stop at Kroger on the way home for some milk and donuts. When he got home he could not make it up the driveway because of the ice so he parked out front and proceeded to come in. I was watching him through the window and he had both Starbucks in his hands, a gallon of milk and a bag of donuts as he walked between the cars and all of a sudden his feet came out from under him and he was D O W N! Believe it or not he did not drop ONE thing!
I got the kids dressed and we went out to play. Sophia loved it and enjoyed eating the snow. After a while she went down for a nap so the boys and I went to the side of the house and were sledding down the hill. Justin was home working so he could listen for her. We saw all the neighbors out and made our way down to see them. Doug had made a sled and so the boys took turns sledding down his driveway. The boys finally decided we needed to come in and warm up. I put all the clothes in the dryer and made some lunch.
After lunch we called Mimi and Papa to see if they still had the sled from when we were little. Papa said he knew exactly where it was and he would bring it on one condition... we have to keep it! The boys were so excited and could not wait for Papa to bring it. We went down our driveway a few times and Justin even broke out his skis. Yes, you read that right... he was skiing down the street! It was nap time again for Sophia so I stayed home with her while Justin took the boys to the park to do some serious sledding. They said they found 100 yard run and they did that over and over again. He said that the three of them were riding the sled... I wish I could have been there to take pics seeing as how Sophia's nap was only 17 min. and 39 seconds.
They came home and had some hot chocolate to warm up and started telling me all about their trip to the park.
Saturday we got some SUNSHINE and made it over freezing. It was so nice to see the sun shining. Now they are telling us that we are expecting MORE snow tomorrow and midweek.
I am really glad we got to spend time together but am ready for the boys to go back to school... they are bored to tears.
