Sophia's 1st birthday party

We celebrated Sophia's first birthday today. We had family and a few close friends help us celebrate. Ashley of course made the cake and it was more than I expected... as usual. Sophia really enjoyed the smash cake and the boys were cracking up at her.

Meemaw gave her the birthday dress to wear along with the ballet slippers. The other outfit is one that Lauren made for her along with the matching bow.

More pics to follow, Dominic took them on his camera so hopefully we will see them before her next birthday : ) We love you Uncle Nic!

BOOM goes the Dynamite!

Jonah played indoor soccer for the first time this winter. He really enjoyed playing and his team was great. So great that they were the Winter League Under 7 Division Champions. Go Dynamite!

One Year old!

It is a little hard these days to get a picture of Sophia sitting still. Today she turned a year old. This past week has been a little rough with four teeth coming in on top and two more on bottom. I am just glad they all came in at once. She loves her big brothers and loves giving hugs to them, especially when they get hurt. She is not walking on her own yet but hopefully soon. Happy Birthday Sophia Claire!

Happy Valentines Day

I personally do not really care for Valentines Day... I think you should show the one you love that you love them every day... not just on the designated day. I am not the sappy kind of girly girl who wants flowers on Valentines Day. Yes, they are pretty but to me personally I think they are a waste of money because I end up killing them within a couple of days and then I am the one who has to clean the mess and deal with the dead flowers all over the counter :) Justin was talking to some guys at work and when he tells them that I say I do not want flowers they tell him that means she REALLY does want them... WRONG. So for the past few years I have gotten my way and not received flowers. Yea me.

The boys had their party at school today and of course I did not get a picture of Jonah but Luke let me get one of him with his famous pose :)

Valentines cards for teachers

The boys made their teacher a card for Valentines Day. The first one is Luke's and that is a picture of him and his teacher. Jonah's is a picture of is classmates.

Rainbow pancakes

For dinner we decided to make colored pancakes. The boys had a blast doing this and were so excited that they were the ones to make dinner.

Fart Police

As many of you know Luke is the KING of passing gas, tooting, farting whatever you want to call it. The boy NEVER stops. We used to get mad but realized we were mad all the time so now just ignore him... for the most part.

We had a two hour delay for school this morning so Luke was drawing a picture of " The Fart Police". He had a little help from Sophia too.

Fifths Disease strikes Morton #4

After being out of school for FOUR days last week due to the weather Luke wakes up Monday morning with Fifths Disease. Seriously? The bad thing about this disease is that you do not show symptoms. He never complained about anything hurting or not feeling well, he just woke up and when he came down stairs I saw his cheeks and just knew he was the next victim. Sure enough I looked at his arms and there was the rash. That makes the fourth Morton to get it... first me, then Nina, then Jonah and now Luke. Please do NOT let Justin get this. I really do not know if I could handle it! ha ha ha

Super Bowl 45

We decided at the last minute to have a few people over for the Super Bowl. Jenny, Kev, Tiffany, Scott and Cole all came over for some dogs and brats.

FOUR days of school CANCELLED!

People always say just how crazy the weather is in TX. Monday was just a regular school day followed up with some homework. We knew that they were calling for freezing rain during the night but we were not prepared for what was about to hit. When we woke up Tuesday we get the call about school being closed for bad weather. It was horrible, it was sleet most of the night and with the temps in the teens it turned into a solid sheet of ice. After a few hours of sleet it then turned to snow. It was so pretty and the boys wanted to go and play in it but it was a solid sheet of ice under the snow. I did not want them out there by themselves and I could not take Sophia out there because I knew that I would fall on the ice... its just my nature :).

So Tuesday came and went and we got to Wednesday... School cancelled AGAIN... then Thursday... cancelled AGAIN then Friday, guess what... CANCELLED AGAIN! HOLY COW we were going stir crazy, the boys were bored to tears and Sophia was teething and was NOT a happy camper for those days.

Friday we woke up to SIX inches of snow, it was unbelievable and it kept coming. Justin was determined to make it to Starbucks since we had been stuck in the house all week. He decided to stop at Kroger on the way home for some milk and donuts. When he got home he could not make it up the driveway because of the ice so he parked out front and proceeded to come in. I was watching him through the window and he had both Starbucks in his hands, a gallon of milk and a bag of donuts as he walked between the cars and all of a sudden his feet came out from under him and he was D O W N! Believe it or not he did not drop ONE thing!

I got the kids dressed and we went out to play. Sophia loved it and enjoyed eating the snow. After a while she went down for a nap so the boys and I went to the side of the house and were sledding down the hill. Justin was home working so he could listen for her. We saw all the neighbors out and made our way down to see them. Doug had made a sled and so the boys took turns sledding down his driveway. The boys finally decided we needed to come in and warm up. I put all the clothes in the dryer and made some lunch.

After lunch we called Mimi and Papa to see if they still had the sled from when we were little. Papa said he knew exactly where it was and he would bring it on one condition... we have to keep it! The boys were so excited and could not wait for Papa to bring it. We went down our driveway a few times and Justin even broke out his skis. Yes, you read that right... he was skiing down the street! It was nap time again for Sophia so I stayed home with her while Justin took the boys to the park to do some serious sledding. They said they found 100 yard run and they did that over and over again. He said that the three of them were riding the sled... I wish I could have been there to take pics seeing as how Sophia's nap was only 17 min. and 39 seconds.

They came home and had some hot chocolate to warm up and started telling me all about their trip to the park.

Saturday we got some SUNSHINE and made it over freezing. It was so nice to see the sun shining. Now they are telling us that we are expecting MORE snow tomorrow and midweek.

I am really glad we got to spend time together but am ready for the boys to go back to school... they are bored to tears.
