Camp Hilliard

Jonah's class had a surprise waiting for them when they returned to school on Tuesday. Camp Hilliard was set up and the class was going to be camping for the last few days of school. The parents were asked to bring sleeping bags, tents, flash lights and have friends and family send letters to the school for mail call. They had shirts made up for them to wear at school for the days they would be camping. Of course I volunteered to iron the logos on the shirts because I feel bad for not volunteering more but it is so hard with Sophia. I had to hide it all from Jonah so he could not see them. I also made some camp Hilliard book marks for the kids to take home.

I could not wait for Jonah to come home on Tuesday so I could hear all about it. When he got off the bus he started telling me how cool it was and that he and his buddy Artis got a tent all to themselves. I think he was most excited about that. He got two letters at mail call today, one from Mimi and one from Aunt Stef. He thought it was pretty cool that he got mail at school.

Refer to May 15th...

So if you refer back to the May 15th post you will know what this is about!

Memorial Day

We headed over to Mimi and Papa's for Memorial Day. We had fajitas for lunch and went swimming. Daddy's dream came true when Sophia FINALLY fell asleep with him. He has been waiting a long time for that! Papa saw this swimsuit while grocery shopping at Walmart and thought Sophia had to have it!

15 months old

Sophia turned 15 months old today. She went in for her 15 month check up and of course cried every time Renee or Dr. Kaplan came near her... I was hoping she would have grown out of this by now.

She weighed in at 23 lbs. and 8oz.
Height 30.5 in.
Head circumference 18.5 in.

She is talking so much, a lot of babble but some of the words she says are:
momma, dada, tickle tickle tickle (as she is tickling herself or someone), ball, dog and more when she wants more food or drink and side, for outside.

She makes the puckering face that cracks us up. She loves to go outside and play, she will even stand at the door and yell at me.

Every day she reminds us more and more of Jonah. She is a blond haired, blue eyed Jonah bear. It is crazy how much she is like him. The facial expressions and mannerisms. You may now get on one knee and pray for us :)

Luke turns SIX

Luke is SIX! I cannot believe it. He woke up this morning and told me that he did not feel like he was six. He had his favorite for breakfast... chocolate and powdered donuts. He then opened up his new scooter, mighty beanz, books and the fort kit that I made for him. I took some cookies up to school for him to share with his friends.

Tyler came over after school to play and then he decided he wanted to eat dinner at Hooters.

Piper, Ansley and Benton sent him a rocket that he was so excited and could not believe that a present came from CO. He kept asking how it got here. LOL

Tyler and Chase's house

The boys went down to Tyler and Chase's house after school today. Colin told me to come home and put Sophia down and enjoy the quite. She obviously only had to say it once... She asked if she could bring the boys home around 7:00 after she fed them dinner. SERIOUSLY? OK. They boys were so excited to eat dinner there and stay so late.

She walked them home and Colin had a pair of shoes in her hand. She told me that she had to confess... her dog ate Luke's shoe and she wanted to give me these shoes, it was a pair of Addidas that had been worn once and Tyler did not like them. They are half a size too big but Luke has not taken them off!

It happened...

My sweet little Lukie...

So I get a knock on my door and it is a friend I have known for a couple of years holding the piece of paper below. It was her sons paper from school and the writing was from Luke... he did it on the bus. She also told me that he was hitting toys in their garage with a plastic golf club and he did not stop after she asked him not too.

The bottom letter is a letter he wrote to a neighbor because one day after school he decided to walk into a neighbors yard and bend this reflector they have in their driveway and it broke.

Field Day

The boys had field day at school today. They were outside from 8:30 until 2:30 doing activities. I did not get to go because you cannot bring siblings. At least I got a picture before they left for school.

Gas Prices

Gas prices have gone through the roof these past few weeks. My tank was not empty and the light was not even on. If you know me well I NEVER let my gas light come on because I am so paranoid about running out of gas. I went to fill up and this was the cost.

No school today

The boys were out of school today so we headed to Strikz to bowl with Barrett. I did not tell them what we were doing so they were excited when we got there. We bowled for an hour and then gave the kids game cards. Jonah got all kinds of goodies with his 285 tickets... including the FOUR skull rings.

Why does it always...

... have to be the middle of the night? 3:00AM we were rudely awakened by a very LOUD sound. We both shot up out of bed when we heard this noise. I told Justin that if we did not have an alarm I would have thought we were being broken into. I get out of bed and walk around to check on the kids and make sure everything is in place. I do not see anything downstairs that has fallen so I go upstairs. In the loft in our bedroom is all the boys Lego's and Lego binder that has all of the booklets in it. It is a 3 or 4 inch binder and it fell from off the wardrobe about 5 feet into a bucket of Lego's. You can only imagine how loud it was!

Proud to be an American!

I can't believe it took 10 years to capture/kill this man. I am sad a man had to die but grateful at the same time. I know it is not over just because the master mind behind it is gone but it is a relief. I am sure in the ten years he has plotted and trained many more crazy people. We cannot put our guard down just yet.

Death Comes for the Master Terrorist: Osama bin Laden (1957-2011)

Almost 10 years ago, Osama bin Laden ghosted away from the Afghan battlefields. Since then, it is as if the doomsday sheikh had slipped into a twilight zone where the only proof that he was alive was the chilling voice on a spool of tape, the occasional video image - and a string of terrorist outrages and wars lengthening around the globe that claim inspiration from him and his cause.

At 11:35 p.m. on May 1, 2011, President Barack Obama made a dramatic television appearance to announce that bin Laden, whose capture or killing was the top priority he had given to CIA chief Leon Panetta, was dead. The leader of al-Qaeda, Obama said, had been tracked by way of intelligence sources in August 2010 and, earlier on the first of May, a team of U.S. operatives found him in a compound in Pakistan, in the town of Abbottabad, 150 kilometers north of Islamabad and the home of Pakistani Army's training academy. Not in the increasingly militant heartland of Punjab, not too far from the unsettled frontier and tribal areas, it was a peaceful, quiet patch - the perfect place to hide until May 1.
