BOOM goes they Dynamite... again

Jonah had another great season with the Dynamite. They just finished first place in indoor again. We are sad that the coaches will no longer be coaching so we will be moving to another team.

17 months old

Sophia is 17 months old! She is all over the place and loves playing with her big brothers. She tries to keep up with them all the time. If she sees you grab your keys or sees keys laying around she says, "car, car, I go car." She is still eating us out of house and home, she does NOT stop... EVER. She still does not like her hair to be put up but she actually left it up for the picture.

Sleep over at Aunt Kelly and Uncle Jason's

Uncle Jason and Aunt Kelly came to pick the boys up for a sleep over. They took them to the pool and let them swim and eat dinner. They had a great time together as always. The boys did not know that I was going to be picking them up in the morning with the car loaded and we were heading to Austin to see Aunt Amy!

Jason told me that while at the pool a woman came over to ask him if Jonah was with him. Jason told her yes and she told him that she just wanted to say how sweet Jonah was to share his ball with her daughter who was a lot younger. That makes a momma proud right there!

Friends

Jonah has been asking if Ethan can come play so we set up a play date and he was super excited. Luke had Barrett over and they all had a great time. We went to McDonalds and picked up lunch and they were so silly.

Movie night

Tonight we had family movie night minus Sophia. I bought Rango and we popped some pop corn and headed to the bedroom. Guess we should have viewed it BEFORE we let the boys see it :(

Yes... seriously!

11:00 I decide to leave the house so I could fill my car up with gas and then swing by Dominic and Carlie's house to feed the cats and water the plants since they are out of town. This gives me ONE hour to do these two things before I have to pick the boys up from camp at noon. This is all happening within a 10 mile radius, it can be done.

I fill up the truck, get to Nic's, leave my purse and phone in the car, walk in, lock the door behind me, set my keys on the counter, feed the cats, scoop the poop and then headed out back to water the plants. If you are wondering WHY I just listed in detail what I did keep reading to find out.

It was so stinking hot out there and I am holding Sophia because she has no shoes on and I do not want her to burn her feet. We get done watering the plants and walk over to the door, turn the door knob and it is L O C K E D! LOCKED folks! My keys are in there, I have to get the boys in 20 minutes. My mind is racing and I run over to the gate, it is LOCKED from the outside. Mind racing some more, do I throw Sophia over the gate and then I go over, do I leave her and go check the front door JUST in case I did not lock it? I remember another gate on the other side of the yard and run over there. It is unlocked thank goodness. I am running to the front door and sure enough it is locked, just how I left it.

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! This cannot be happening. All I can think of is who is going to get the boys and holy balls are we going to melt and pass out from heat? Snap out of it I tell myself, go knock on the neighbors door and see if they are home. Oh wait, the neighbors they NEVER see and have lived there for over 8 years? Yep, those would be the ones. I frantically knock on the neighbors door and by this time I am dripping sweat I am a hot mess and the door opens. I introduce myself and tell this lady that I am Dominic's sister, they are out of town, and I am feeding their cats and have locked myself out of their house while watering the plants.

She asks if I would like to borrow the phone. Sure, I would LOVE to. Can I just stare at it because I know NO ONES phone number! They are all in my phone... that is in my car. It is now 11:47 and I am freaking out, sweat dripping down my entire body and I am certain this lady had her fingers on her cell phone ready to dial 911. I was so shaken up that I could not even think. The only number I knew was Justin's cell phone and we all know he won't answer. Then it hit me, Tyler was at camp and I could call Jenny at work. I know that number because I used to work there! WOOHOOOO. I call her and can barley talk and am shaking. I wish the lady would have just slapped me or offered me some water or something...

Jenny tells me that she will call her mom and have her get the boys since she was going to be picking Tyler up. So, the boys are taken care of with a few minutes to spare. I am still trying to call Justin and he is just not answering. I call Jenny back to get the number of the Dr.'s office where my mom works because she has an extra key to Nic's house too. That is if she could find it.

I get the number and call her at work and she answers the phone. Sweet!! This is how the call went down. Not so sweet.

Me " Mom, I need your help, I locked myself out of Nic's house and I have to get the boys at noon." all while shaking and still dripping sweat. I really should offer to mop this lady's floor.

Mom, "I'm sorry, who did you say this was"?

I am thinking to myself, I KNOW this is my mother, why is she asking who it is?

Me, "A L I S O N"

mom, " and who are you looking for"?

me, " MOTHER, it is Alison, YOUR DAUGHTER".

mom, "laughter on her end"

This is NOT a laughing moment, or at least not for me. I am sure this women was thinking WHO did I let in my house? A mother who does not even recognize her own daughters voice.

I finally ask if she has an extra key and if she can come over and let me in so I can get my keys. She does have a key and would have to go home and look for it.

The kind lady was nice enough to let me stay in the house until Marcia arrived with the boys. I thanked the lady and then headed out and sat in the car waiting on my mom. Of course I have the air blowing on me trying to calm down and cool off and then I notice my butt is ON FIRE and could not figure out why I could not cool off. I start looking around and Sophia has turned on my bun warmer on HIGH! It is 100 degrees out and my butt was cooking.

Mom finally pulls up and goes and unlocks the door so I can get my keys and head home for a shower.

Thank you neighbor, Marcia and mom for rescuing me!

Oh, and let me clarify... Carlie has locked herself out a couple of times when Dominic is out of town and has to call us to come and let her in. It is the door that is the problem. For some reason the door knob will turn even when it is locked so when you walk out you do not think it is locked because it turned and you walked out of it. I am requesting that the door knob be changed or I will not be able to watch the cats again! :) lol

"I WANT THE OTHER SIDE!"

Since I have not been grocery store this week we have been cleaning out the fridge, freezer and pantry for lunch and dinners. Today I decided that we should head to Subway for a nice change. I went in to this idea with good intentions but lets just say it did not END that way. I even planned ahead and asked the boys what they wanted before we even got our shoes on to head out. Their response, "the same thing I always get".

We of course waited until 12:15 before we left the house and you KNOW we cannot get out of the house without a fight. You know, who opens the door, who is the first one out the door then who shuts the house door and once we are outside we have to argue over who is going to get in the car first. Then who is going to sit in what seat and who did what last and WHO THE *&$^%&$* CARES! GET IN, SIT DOWN, BUCKLE UP AND ZIP YOUR LIPS AND NO I AM NOT TURNING ON THE MOVIE,CAN MOMMY'S CHEEKS HIT THE LEATHER BEFORE I GET SLAMMED WITH DEMANDS PLEASE!!!

I personally think that ZIP YOUR LIPS needs to be first so that way there can be no arguing, but then it might just get physical and that would be an entire other ball game folks. I really think I am going to print a sign and post it on the garage door at the boys eye level so they can read it EVERY single time they have to walk out the door. Better yet I should make them read it out loud before the door can open and maybe that will beat them down like their fighting does me EVERY single time we have to get in the truck.

Sorry, back on track now... Subway. I will set the scene. 12:15 on a Friday, three tables are occupied and 5 customers in front of me. We are in line, I am holding Sophia and of course she is squirming to get down but I will not let her. I look down and I kid you not, a good quarter of my boob (wearing a bra of course) is hanging out the side of my arm hole because Sophia is pulling my shirt, I get that put away and then she proceeds to push on BOTH of my boobs and laughs. I was about to hold out my hand for money seeing as how the "worker" guys were getting a pretty good laugh from it. So glad they were amused, since I was not. :) The boys are bumping each other with their butts and of course telling one another to stop and both kept doing it. There are now a good 7 people behind us and I am sweating out EVERY pore of my body while praying that another , worker will pop out of the back, put on those overly large plastic gloves and kindly ask if they can help the next customer. Well, that NEVER happened.

Finally, it was our turn. I ordered two foot long spicy italian on white. My plan was to have the boys pick out what they want on their half of the sandwich, like we do EVERY time we go there. I tell the lady what I would like on my half and then Sophia's half, I then ask Jonah what he would like. It is now Luke's turn... and here is where it gets good folks. As if it were possible for me to sweat anymore at this point I am pretty sure they were going to need to get the mop! I bend down and ask Luke what he would like on his sandwich and he has the blank stare on his face and you know exactly what is coming with that look... wait for it..... tears people! I asked him one more time and then even gave him specifics on what he could have. The tears flowed and all he could say was, "I want the other side, I want the other side". Surely he does not want the poor worker to turn the sandwich around. I ask him one more time and remind him that ALL the people behind him are waiting for him to decide, all the while Sophia is picking up every bag of chips in her reach. He continues to cry and say that he wants the other side, I finally tell her to wrap it up and we are done. He continues on and she opens the sandwich and he continues to say the other side. I signal her to wrap it up, he is fine. Of course he starts kicking the counter and yelling he wants the other side, he wants the other side. HE WANTS THE OTHER SIDE people, whatever that means.

We finally get out the front door and to the car, I crank the air up and take a breath and ask Luke what he meant by "the other side". I really should have just thrown the car in drive and gunned it. He is now arching his back, kicking the seat and saying, "the other side" over and over again. I asked him to explain to me what the other side was and he said, "you know, the side by the chips". HUH? No, mommy does not know. Jonah chimes in and says that he gets it, he wanted the side by the chip rack. Ohhhhhh, NOW I get it...... NOT! What am I not getting folks???

THE LIGHT IS ON AND SOMEONE IS HOME! Luke finally tells me that he wanted what he always gets. I reminded him that I got him the spicy italian with the salami and pepperoni like he always gets and he just looked at me as if there was no problem at all. Now, it hits me, right up the side of the head "the other side" I get it now, he thought that I did not put meat on the sandwich so when I asked him what he wanted on the sandwich we were already passed
"the other side" where the meat was and he could not see the meat on the sandwich. He wanted "the other side" of the veggies. There was my ah ha moment!

We got home and sat down and enjoyed our spicy italian sandwich, just like we always get!

Atlantis Begins Final Shuttle Mission

I can remember watching the space shuttle launch for the first time, I just cannot recall where I was. I called the boys in to watch and told them that when I was their age I saw the shuttle go up for the first time and now they are going to see it go up for the last time. They thought it was pretty cool to watch. They are holding up their fingers with how old they are. Sophia did not want to be any part of the picture so I had to bribe her with the remote and this picture was as good as we could get.

Atlantis and its four astronauts left Earth for the final space shuttle mission, which will cap off an amazing 30-year program of exploration, which launched great observatories, built an International Space Station, and taught us more about how humans can live and work in space.

With the International Space Station flying 220 miles high and east of Christchurch, New Zealand, Atlantis left Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 11:29 a.m. EDT. There was a slight delay at T-31 seconds while retraction of the Gaseous Oxygen Vent Arm, or "Beanie Cap," was verified. Atlantis will dock with the space station on Sunday.

The STS-135 post-launch news conference will begin at 1:10 p.m. EDT from NAS's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Participating will be NASA Associate Administrator for Space Operations Bill Gerstenmaier, Kennedy Space Center Director Bob Cabana, Space Shuttle Program Launch Integration Manager and chairman of the pre-mission Mission Management Team Mike Moses, and Shuttle Launch Director Mike Leinbach. The news conference will be carried live on NASA TV and online at www.nasa.gov/ntv.

Space shuttle Atlantis lifted off July 8 on the final flight of the shuttle program, STS-135, a 12-day mission to the International Space Station. Atlantis carries a crew of four and the Raffaello multipurpose logistics module containing supplies and spare parts for the space station. The STS-135 astronauts are: Commander Chris Ferguson, Pilot Doug Hurley, and Mission Specialists Sandy Magnus and Rex Walheim.

Jonah said...

Tonight the kiddos and I met Justin for dinner at La Hacienda. On our way home the boys rode with Justin and I had Sophia. We came to a stop light and Justin was beside us so I rolled down Sophia's window so she could see the boys. They were acting crazy, dancing and singing. As the light turned green Jonah yells, "kiss me, I'm a smoker".

WHAT? Where the heck did that come from? I have to admit, I did laugh out loud on that one. Jonah will always keep us wondering...

Lukes 6 year check up

We went for Luke's six year check up today and he was so happy that he would not be getting any shots! He weighed in at 46 pounds and 9 ounces and is in the 50th percentile for height and weight. Not sure HOW he passed his hearing test but failed his vision test! Both eyes were 20/40 and we got a referral for an eye doctor. OF COURSE WE DID! Last week we reenrolled for NEW BENEFITS and opted OUT of vision! Seriously? *&$^#&$&^%

Here is Luke being silly for his picture.

Target practice

The boys have been asking Papa when they could shoot their bows. Papa decided that the 100 degree heat was the perfect time to set up the target and go shoot :) The boys were SO excited they could hardly stand it.

Jonah got a bulls eye! Luke had some great shots too. Maybe he shot like that because of the results of his vision test today :)

4th of July

Today we headed over to mom and dads for burgers and some pool time. Nina had the day off so she got to join us. It was HOT and the pool was not even refreshing, it was a balmy 90 degrees in the water and it is only July.

You did not expect Luke to make a normal face did you? I used to get so worked up about it but now know that it is just him and it would look goofy if he wasn't making a face. Thanks for keeping us smiling Lukie!

Amezcua pool party

The Amezcuas had The Mean Girls and their families over for a cookout and pool party while The Caravellas were in town. The kids swam and we had fajitas for dinner. It was great to see all the girls since it has been a while.

Poor Sophia had a little problem with her swim diaper crawling in her goolie and falling down. I cannot believe my first thought was for Julianne to grab her camera so we could catch it on film. Disclaimer: I only did this for future payback, you better think twice before you cross yo momma miss Sophia! :)

College roommate memories

A few years back Justin, Sean and Brian decided that they would get together and play golf once a month... which turned out to be every few months and then not so often. Brian was coming home so they planned a day to golf. Sean set up a tee time in Ft. Worth and after golf Daphne and I would meet them back at Sean and Monica's house for dinner.

Justin sent me this picture of him and Sean wearing the EXACT same shirt and shorts and golf shoes. How cute :)

Casey drove in from Louisiana and had dinner with us. We have not seen him since our wedding. We all had a great time remembering the good old days in Lubbock. It seemed like old times when we were all together. Who would have thought back then that our lives would be what they are today. Casey is a bomber pilot with 5 year old twins, Sean and Monica just had their sweet baby girl 7 weeks ago, Daph and Brian have three and a half kids and Justin and I with our three.

I know we always say it but we have GOT to get together more often. It was so fun!

Jerseys from Denmark and Sweden

Justin brought the boys back some jerseys from Denmark and Sweden. They love them and could not wait to wear them.
