Surprise trip to CO

I received a shower invitation from Lea honoring Daphne for a baby shower. I was sad that I was not going to be able to go because I had been to all of them in the past. Little did I know that Justin had talked to Lea and Brian and booked me a ticket for a surprise for both Daph and I. I was SO excited. A weekend away would be great... until I asked when I was going to be leaving. I was to leave on Friday the 23rd. I told Justin that was not going to happen... Carlie is due that day and if she went into labor I was going to be here. We put the trip on hold for a few days and were going to play it by ear.

To everyones surprise Noah decided to come into this world a few days early. YEA! This meant that I could be here with Nic and Carlie AND head to CO to surprise Daph. It worked out perfect.

I headed to the airport on Friday and enjoyed the people watching while waiting on my flight and was off to see the CO crew. Daph knew that someone was coming but did not know who. Brian had to tell her since he had to get a bed out of the basement and upstairs so I would have somewhere to sleep.

Needless to say Daph was very surprised! Sat. we went to Piper and Ansley's soccer games and Ansley had a hat trick. We went out to dinner that night and then got ready for the shower on Sunday. Lea made everyone an apron and had a chefs hat that we ironed everyones initial on. We made some really good food at the shower and had a great time.

We made some kind of cheesecake ball dipped in chocolate for dessert, a punch, a calzone, artichoke on bread, a salad with pear, blue cheese and walnuts, stuffed peppers with goat cheese and chives, A mozzarella wrap with basil and _____, it was all so delicious. I know all of these had a special name but you did not really expect me to remember them did you?

We all had a great time visiting and it was great to see everyone! We sure miss The Vellas.

19 months old

Sophia is 19 months old today! She is miss independent and is into everything! She is mainly in the pantry and would eat literally ALL day if I would let her. We are now on the second lock on the pantry and she can STILL get in. I am exhausted at the end of the day from getting her out of there and picking up everything she drags out on a half hour basis! You guys only think I am exaggerating but ask anyone... it is true. :)

Sophia is so excited to be a big cousin to Noah. She LOVES to hold him and poke him. We assembled her big girl bed and got some bedding but she has not slept in it yet. I am waiting because I do not want her AWESOME bed routine to get messed up. We just put her in her crib and never hear a peep out of her. I am not looking forward to her being able to get out of the bed just yet. Both boys were out of the crib at this age but I am just not ready. We will have to get some serious gates so she cannot roam the house if she gets up.

Jonah's 8 year check up

Jonah went in for his 8 year check up.

He weighs 68 pounds
52 inches tall
20/20 in both eyes and passed the hearing test. Now, I just wish there was a listening test! HA

He was getting his flu shot/mist today and he opted for the shot. He does NOT like things in his nose. He gets that from his momma!

No name Sherpy is HERE!!!

Carlie went in for her weekly check up today and they saw that little buddy had pooped so they decided to admit her and take the baby by cesarean. It was a little bit of a shock because they were not expecting to be parents today. Her due date was the 23rd so they still thought they might have a few days.

After getting checked in they got her prepped and ready for surgery. Mom, dad and Grannie made it to the hospital and Glenn and Corrie had to drop everything and hop in the car for the 7 hour drive.

I was so excited I could hardly stand it. We have been waiting for this little buddy for a long time and he is HERE!!!

He weighed in at 8 pounds 14.2 ounces and has dark hair. We are not sure of his name just yet but he will get one soon.

The boys were so excited to meet their newest cousin. Sophia was super excited too and wanted to hold him the entire time. Jonah wanted a turn to hold him and Sophia had a death grip on him and I had to have help to pry her arms off of him. We got him free and she grabbed his hat and yanked it off she was so mad.

This makes 8 grand kids for Mimi and Papa and 11 great grand kids for Grannie. Grannie has been at the hospital for ALL 12 births.

So for now we will call him little buddy or who knows, that may even stick with him and we will never call him by his legal name. We are so excited you are finally here and made it safely into this world and cannot wait to watch you grow. You have the BEST parents anyone could ask for! We love you little buddy!

Morton sleep over

The "other" Mortons came over at 7:30 Sunday night to sleep over because their air went out. It was hard for the kids because they wanted to play but we all had school the next day. It was amazing... we got ALL the kids and adults up and out of the house by 7:00 Monday morning.

Its a bad pic but at least I got one...

Rockets

Jonah got moved to a new soccer team this season, the Rockets. He had his first game today and... I do not even know what to say! I will be kind seeing as how my kids will read this one day :)

Morton sleep over

Jason had his 20 year reunion this weekend so the kids came to our house to spend the night. We pulled the king size mattress to the game room for the kids to sleep on and they were so excited. They just do not know how good they have it... we were lucky to pull up a piece of carpet (hopefully it had been vacuumed in the last week) and have a blanket and were told to sleep tight. Here they were on a plush pillow top in front of a tv watching Tangled and living the good life.

All the Mortons had a late night the night before so we started the process of getting everyone showered and laying down by 7:30. 8:30 we turned off the movie and told everyone to get quite and settle down. Yea right :) By 8:50 all the big kids were asleep and Ben was still going strong. I finally took him into the boys room to lay down with him and thought he would fall asleep fast. Not so much... He laid down and said, "I am not sleeping in here, this is not my room and I'm angry". He then mumbled under his breath some things that I could not understand. I was trying not to laugh so I would not shake the bed. He flipped and flopped and tossed and turned and finally was O U T at 9:20.

At 4:30 I heard crying in the night so I jumped up and ran upstairs before the whole crew woke up and while running up the stairs I heard Ben saying, "I fell, someone help me". I get to his room and he is sitting up on his bed crying. I laid him back down and he was fine and fell right back to sleep. I do not know if he really fell or if he was dreaming. I did not hear a thud...

Justin went and bought some donuts for breakfast and of course finished so they could play the Wii.

Jonah turns EIGHT!

I cannot believe that my little turkey is EIGHT years old! He has had a huge growth spurt and will soon pass me I am sure. He is wearing a size 3 shoe. Do not mind the black tank he is wearing he did have a shirt on over it :) He is a Lego fanatic and loves to build different things. He also loves Star Wars books that tell him all the details on the characters and ships.

One of the last swims of the season

The end of summer is coming and that means swimming is coming to an end. I am so proud of both boys for doing such an awesome job swimming and most of all Luke. He had NO fear this summer, he was swimming in the deep end and jumping off the board and having a blast.

After swimming we all went in and a couple of hours later heard a loud noise. We put the umbrella on the spa so we can shade Sophia. Well, the winds picked up and blew that sucker right in the pool. I am not sure how, that base weighs 50 pounds. So I tell Justin to suit up and he tells me that he will just get it like the picture shows below. Well, he got it and so did his shorts... needless to say he spend the rest of the afternoon in his swimsuit!
