First few days of school

I was waiting for the boys to come flying through the door the first day of school to tell me how much fun they had, what friends were in their class and what they did all day.  YEA RIGHT!  My boys?  They take after their dad and are men of few words.  All I got was, boring and a shoulder shrug.  Later Jonah did tell me that he made a new friend, Quincy and he was SO excited!

Jonah came home Tuesday telling me how much fun he had playing minecraft on the playground with all of his buddies.  Luke still had a big bag of nothing!

Here it is... the third day of school and Jonah comes home in tears.  My heart immediately broke before he could say a word.  My little tough guy was so upset he did not even want to talk about it.  Finally, he uttered the words, "I lost a best friend and that has never happened before".  I asked  him what happened and he told me that his new BFF kicked, punched and called him a wimp in the bus line.  If you know Jonah, you know good and well he is not a wimp!  I asked him why he lost him as a friend and he told me that he does not want a friend who treats him like that.  (confetti flying, mommy whooping in her head and jumping for joy)

He told me that Quincy cut in front of him in the bus line and Jonah asked him to get behind him or get in the back of the line.  Quincy then punched and kicked him and continued to do so and then called him a wimp.

I know, I know... Jonah is NO angel.  I asked him what he did after all of this happened and he said that he punched him back in the arm since he would not stop after he kept asking him to.  We have taught our boys that they should always use their words and if that does not work then get an adult.  We also tell them they better defend themselves too.  Jonah said there was a teacher but no one saw and when I asked him why he did not go get a teacher he told me he did not  want to loose his spot in line.

I of course used this as a life lesson and asked Jonah how it made him feel after being treated like that.  Now hopefully he will not treat anyone like that since he knows how it feels.

Back To School: 3rd and 2nd Grade

RISE AND SHINE!  It's the FIRST day of school.  I cannot believe that they are so big.  Our sweet Jonah Bear is in 3rd grade and Lukie is in 2nd.  Fingers crossed it will be a great year for them both, especially Jonah since we are 100% guaranteed that a certain child will NOT be in his class nor will he ever be in class with him again... thank God!

This year there will be NO pics of the boys in their classroom or with friends because they made it VERY clear that they were going to ride the bus this morning... I guess mom and dad embarrass them already.  HA!  Oh well, at least we did not have to wake Sophia and Seth up.

I know one little girl who is going to be looking for her "JonahLukes" this morning when she wakes up.

No!  Those are NOT ski boots, those
are shoes on Jonah's feet.

Luke still does his "Luke BD" face!

Fantasy Football Draft

Justin was supposed to head to Arkansas for his draft this year but it was horrible timing.  He was in Austin all week and then we had meet the teacher Friday night and school starting Monday.  He stayed home so Rob and Nic came here.  We ordered pizza and the kids played... until the meltdowns started.

Meet The Teacher

Tonight we went up to the school to meet the boys teachers.  The boys got to see some friends and unload their school supplies into their desks.  Jonah has a couple of friends from first grade in his class and Luke only recognized one boy.  Luke got Mrs. Kerley and this is her first year at Allen.  Jonah got Mrs.  Durst and I have heard great things about her.  We are so excited for this school year to start.

Barrett

Barrett came over to play today and we sure miss seeing him since he goes to a different school.  He has the most contagious laugh and it makes me smile.  The boys have so much fun when they get together and it is like no time has passed.

Visit to Grannies

This morning Carlie and I headed to Garland to visit Grannie.  We looked at old pictures, Grannie got down on the floor and played Murder with the kids and then we went to Cici's for lunch.  We had a great time and cannot wait to go back.

Kaleb headed to Norman

Kaleb is the first Morton cousin to head off to college.   I met Kaleb when he was about 6 months old... where did the time go?  He is headed to OU and is beyond excited.    They had to leave Keaton and Kate back in Houston because there was not enough room for them and all of Kaleb's stuff.  We are so proud of you Kaleb!   BOOMER SOONER!

Henry Henry Henry

Luke and Henry went to preschool together and became really good friends.  Henry is the one who inspired Luke to grow his hair out, he wanted to be just like Henry.  They were super excited when they found out they were in kindergarten together.  Luke was sad they moved to Highland Park at the end of their kinder year.  Luke talks about Henry all the time and asks to see him.

Wendy sent an email earlier in the week telling me that she was bringing Ellie up to Frisco for a birthday party and asked if we were free.  I told her to just drop Henry off and let him spend the night.  I thought Luke was going to EXPLODE with happiness!  Being his silly self he kept saying he was "filled with joy" that he was coming.  He was counting down the hours.

We went over to mom and dads for a swim and Henry went up to dads trophy room and wanted his picture made with the bear.

Our week... $$$

This week cannot be over fast enough!  It started with the garage incident and ended with the fridge going out and the AC in the Master bedroom and study going out.  When it rains is pours...  In June we replaced the washing machine.  Stop the madness!!!.

Seth 5 months old

Seth turned 5 months old today.  I took about 15 pictures and this is all he gave me... Not ONE smile.  His hand and eye coordintation is getting really good these days and he is grabbing everything.  He is just like Sophia was and only takes 20-25 minute naps.

Bone, Thugs N Harmony aka Jonah

I have said it once and I will say it again, "I do NOT even know who I am anymore"!  Nordstrom was having half yearly so Nina said to bring the boys up to get some new shoes.  THESE are the shoes my son picked out.  I have never even heard of the brand but apparently they are "skater" shoes.  No, Jonah is NOT a skater but...

In his defense he does have a VERY wide and chunky foot and we can NEVER find a shoe that is comfortable for him and this shoe is so wide and thick there is NO way it is not comfortable.  It honestly looks like a ski boot.  He fell in love with them while Justin and I were shaking our heads wondering what he sees in them.  :)  The ONLY reason we said yes was because Meemaw got her discount after the markdown.  I guess as long as he is happy we can be happy for him.  SMH (shaking my head).

They got these jackets too.

Sophia picked this out.
She does NOT like coats with sleeves.
Hmmmm I wonder where she gets that!

Faith & Finances For Kids

The Morton children have NO clue about the value of money... but that is about to change, thanks to Aunt Kelly and Uncle Jason!  They told us about Faith & Finances For Kids.  We are so excited to start this with them.  Basically, they get "paid" once a week.  There are four banks and a percent of their income (depending on the age of the child) is broken up.  See below.

The purpose of Faith & Finances for Kids is to equip current and future generations to be good stewards of God’s money so they can be free from the burden of debt and hear God say, “Well done.” (Mat the w 25:21)

While kids are living at home, they will learn the habit of setting aside 10% for Giving, 20% for Savings and 30% for Reserves BEFORE spending their last 40% for Allowance. They will also learn how to avoid DEBT and about the reality of paying taxes.

I do not know who is more excited, me or the boys.  Hopefully soon I will not have to hear, "but it's only a dollar".  Wish us luck.

My Husband & My Suburban

My poor Suburban.  My truck has taken a beating over the last 7 months... by my husband.  Luckily I am the one who drives it so I am sure people think I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE :)

From the picture you can see the bumper... from when Justin backed his truck into it on his way to duck hunt.  This time its the roof of the truck.  Let me set the scene...

We were in separate cars this lovely Sunday and he was right behind me coming home.  Now, getting my truck, or any car for that matter into our garage is a challenge.  When I pull in, I have to pull back out to straighten up.  So, as I pull in the garage, Justin is in his truck behind me pulling into the driveway and when he gets in the gate he hits the remote to shut the gate... only he hit the garage door button.  So, as I am pulling  out of the garage, I look in my mirror and see the garage door coming down and it is too late to stop, BAM!  I jump out of my truck and run over to him with my arms up and he is looking at me like whats my problem.  He had NO clue he did it.

One push of the wrong button and there goes a few hundred bucks...  sigh

We had an impromptu sleep over with Tyler.
