We wanted to do something for our 40th and thought about planning a trip with Nic and Carlie and of course that did not happen. So, we decided to have a party at our house. Carlie got busy on the invitation. We decided to have it catered and that was the best idea EVER! We also hired a photographer so we could capture the night without having to be the ones taking the pictures. I do wish we would have made a plan to take certain pictures seeing as how Justin is not really in any of them!
Not only were we throwing a party but when I heard that Scott and Andrea were coming in from San Diego we decided to keep it a surprise along with Brian and Daph coming from Ft. Collins. It was KILLING me keeping it a secret. There were multiple times I almost slipped and said something.
Now it was time to get the house ready for a party! We really wanted the new fence before the party but with all the rain they were 4 weeks out. We told them that we were having a party so they squeezed us in. They started the Saturday before the party and finished the DAY OF. It made all the difference in the world!
Friday night Nic and Carlie came over to help get the decor set up and figure out where we would put everything. We had the margarita machine delivered so we just had to plug it in a couple of hours before the party. We got the paper lanterns hung, the lights on the driveway to the shed and Dominic and Justin made us laugh when they took a spare set of lights and made a "40" on the back fence.
Brian and Daph came in a few hours before the party and walked outside to where Justin was getting the coolers filled. When he looked up and saw them he was so surprised.
We finished getting ready for the party and it was time for people to start arriving. When Scott and Andrea showed up I was so excited and walked out with them to see Justin's reaction! Needless to say he was even more surprised!
People started showing up and the margarita machine was NOT freezing... we blew a circuit! Thank goodness Jeff had an industrial size extension cord he went and brought back.
Everyone had a great time and the party ended after 3:00 am! Successful 40th!
