Jonah And Mom

Last night Jonah and I went to run some errands and pick him up some new clothes.  The boy will not stop growing!  He is going to camp at the end of July and he needed a few things.  We went and got some shorts, tank tops and a backpack for when school starts.  He also wanted to swing by Half Price Books to look for a new book.  He found one and we also picked him up a Bible for camp.

We decided to let daddy and the other kiddos figure out dinner on their own while we had a date at Tin Star.  I look half asleep and am a sweaty sunscreened mess from the car show.

I asked Jonah what he wanted to be when he grew up and he said, "an office person, a Marine or an Author".  We both decided that we needed to do this one on one thing once a month.  Minus the clothes shopping... the boys LOVES him some clothes!

Mockingbird Nest

A couple of weeks ago we noticed two mockingbirds hanging around the backyard and on the porch.  We have a bakers rack with baskets on it right by the backdoor.  They made a nest and we got to see them make the nest and the eggs.  I am kicking myself because I did not get a picture of the eggs!  Within a week four birds hatched and we got to watch them until they left the nest.  It was really cool to watch them.  We would get up in the morning and check on them and see momma bird feeding them.

Friday night around dinner the four birds were in the nest.  Within a couple of hours two of them were gone.  Saturday morning the two left were being fed by momma.  We watched as momma was flying around and catching bugs mid air to feed the babies.  It was really awesome to watch her catch the bugs and get them ready to feed the babies.

Within minutes we looked and there was only one bird left.  Then about 3 minutes later the last little baby jumped from the nest onto the ground and started spreading his wings then hopped off.  He went to the corner of the yard and found a bush to get in.

We are going to miss seeing these birds we have been watching them for a couple of weeks through out the day.

Texas Dream Cruise

The Texas Dream Cruise show was this afternoon from noon to 5:00.  Yes, you read that correctly... TX, JUNE and NOON, oh and it was going to be 100 degrees!   WHAT was I thinking?  I thought it would be fun to head out and let the kids see all the different cars that would be out there but boy was I wrong!  From the time I asked the boys to get dressed and brush their teeth and hair the moans and groans started.  "Why do we have to get dressed? Where are we going? Why do we have to go? What are we going to do? I'm bored... yep, THIS is why Mother Morton DOES NOT LIKE GOING ANYWHERE.  It is a beating to try and get the kids OUT of the house.

Justin (Minter) was going to have his 56 Ford, 1940 Ford Deluxe and their 1939 Ford Woody out there  so we met up with them at II Brothers for lunch before we headed out in the heat.  The service was horrible and we were there over an hour before we got our food, then only half of it came out and some of it was wrong.  We could not even get our water refilled!

Lunch was over so we loaded on the sunscreen and started walking to see the cars.  Oh,  I see, you think the gripping stopped when we got in the truck to leave.  YEA RIGHT!

"It's hot, my legs hurt, when are we going home, WHY are we here, I'm thirsty, this is boring there is nothing to do..........."  As you can see folks Jonah and Luke feel that they cannot function without electronics or AC.  They complain how bored they are at home and there is NOTHING to do so when we do actually do something they only complain.  Mother Morton cannot win.

We listened to them complain for a while longer and then rewarded them with a Slurpee.  Great parenting but it was _______ HOT!

So great to see Justin, Tara, the kids and Amos and Amy!

Austin Trip

Headed down to Austin to see Aunt Amy  and Uncle Sam and went by The Oasis.  Beau is one of Amy's good friends so we had to see what all he has done with the place.  We could not beleive how much it had changed. It looks awesome!  Shopping and a parking garage.  It has more than quadroupled in size.

Ready for space

Jonah wanted to squeeze Beau's house... a little off but it was bright outside!

Sophia Update

I am not the person who worries about something until there is something to worry about... until NOW!

When we went to the doctor last week with blood in Sophia's urine and lots of protein I could not help but get on Google.  WHY WOULD I EVER DO SUCH A STUPID THING LIKE THAT???   I read two different reasons, teared up and started to worry and shut Google down ASAP!  I do not know why I did that but I did.  So of course the ultrasound was scheduled 6 days down the road.  For the first two days I was a nervous wreck and then snapped out of it, or at least put it WAY in the back of my mind.  I was driving myself insane with "what if's".

So, the day finally arrived for the ultrasound.  I dropped the boys off with Aunt Carlie and Sophia and I headed downtown.  Childrens Hospital might be a great hospital but what a whip it was finding our way around.  I parked where they said and when we got in I got on two differnt sets of elevators and neither would take me to the 5th floor!  I finally had to ask for help and then walked 2 miles to the set that would take me to the 5th floor.

We started the appointment with another urine sample and it came back PERFECT, CLEAN, NORMAL!!! No blood, no protein, no nothin'.   WOOHOOOOOO  That meant NO ULTRASOUND!!!

So, now the question of why was this in there in the first place.  They said that a virus could cause these things in the kidneys and last week when this happened she had HAND, FOOT and MOUTH DISEASE... which is viral!

We are going for another urine check in August just to make sure everything is still clear!  This is ONE happy momma.

GOOD GRAVY! FOR THE LOVE! WHAT THE!

The last four days have been C R A Z Y at The Morton house!

Friday night:
2:30 Jonah barfed.  It only happened once which means it was all the crap he ate at the party that night!  If he gets a stomach bug he barfs every 25-30 minutes for a good 6-7 hours.
I went to bed with a tickle in my throat.

Saturday:  I woke up stuffy, sore throat.  NO time for that, I had to shop for the perfect outfit for my 20 year reunion!  Seth woke up from his THREE hour nap at 6:30 with a fever (mom had the kids while we were at our reunion).  He spit up a little and would not eat dinner.  He was up a couple of times in the night.

Sunday:  I still feel crappy, Justin started feeling crappy.  Happy Fathers Day!

Monday:  Noticed a couple of spots on Seths feet and hands.  Sophia started running a fever at 7:00pm.  She was up from 2:30 until after 4:00 and up at 7:00.  Seth woke up COVERED in spots.  Confirmed Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease.  It is everywhere except his tummy.  His mouth and throat are covered in blisters :(

I am sure tomorrow Sophia will break out in the rash since she has fever now.

FOR THE LOVE!!!  AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THIS...Especially momma being sick to take care of all these sickies!!!

If you see an SOS signal please follow it, I will be at the end of it! HA

Berkner HS 20 Year Reunion

We had our 20 year reunion this weekend, no plans on going until Brian and Daph said they were driving in from Ft. Collins!  Glad we made it, we had a great time even though it was hotter than (fill in the blank)!  It was great to see everyone and catch up.  We only made it to the Sat. night party down in Deep Ellum at a Brewing Company... apparently one of our classmates works there :)

Party For The Caravellas

Brian and Daph came in town for our 20th Reunion so we had some people over so they could see everyone. The kids had a great time catching up.  I met most of these kiddos when Jonah was 10 weeks old and I joined a playgroup.  I cannot believe how big they all are.
