Rain, Rain and MORE RAIN

The rain has been OUT OF CONTROL!  We have been fortunate enough to not have had any problems.  I did get up in the middle of the night during one of the storms to make sure we were not going to blow away and the entry way was full of water.  It had blown under the front door.

I then woke up to a text Saturday morning from my mom telling me that Lebanon is closed from 423 to Legacy.  This is THE only way in and out of the neighborhood.  We were stuck!

So this is the railroad that runs right next to the house.  This is on Lebanon and every time it rains the ground seems to sink a little.  It FINALLY gave way and fell into the street.

Luke Haircut

Luke has been asking for about a month if he could cut his hair.  I kept putting if off because I did not know if he was serious until he asked me 42 times a week when we were going to get it cut.  I cannot just take him to the local Sports Clips because they BUTCHER it.  I finally got an appointment with the girl who cuts my hair.

We then had to reschedule since Justin and I booked a last minute trip to Vegas and then thought we were going to have to move it again when we found out all streets surrounding our neighborhood were shut down due to the flooding.

The sun came out and the water went down.  We made it to get his haircut, or should I say, CHOP?  I am pretty sure he decided to cut it since I told him that I would no longer help him dry it since he is big enough :)

Sophia's Last Day Of Pre School

Look out Kindergarten... Sophia is coming!  Where did the time go?  We loved having Mrs. Stefanie and Mrs. Amy for teachers.  Every school day they would tell me that they could not wait to see what Sophia was wearing that day.  They always loved her outfit and shoes.  I told them I was a bargain shopper at Target, TJ Maxx, Marshalls and of course Zulily!

Sophia's Pre School Graduation

Sophia had her pre school graduation tonight.  She has been telling us for weeks that she IS NOT going to walk the stage because she has stage freight.  Well, she was not lying!

We were to drop Sophia off 15 minutes early with their teachers outside of the auditorium.  She was a little hesitant but was fine. Mrs.  Stefanie assured me that she was going to be the first one to walk even though they do it in alphabetical order so she would not be freaking out on stage.  Here she is walking in with Mrs.  Stefanie.  ALL the kids got on stage to sing a couple of songs but Sophia went to sit down by Mrs.  Stefanie.

These two crazies here were having a little too much fun!  Luke's hair is cracking me up.

One of the other moms came and got me to tell me that Sophia had to use the bathroom.  SERIOUSLY, her class was up next to walk.  I grabbed her and ran out the door thinking we were going to miss the entire thing.  We made it back in time though!

Ready to get up and walk, she was actually pulling Mrs.  Stefanie's hand to get up on stage... then it hit her, EVERYONE was watching!

Mrs.  Stefanie had to walk over and get her to bring her across that stage.  She was NOT budging.

Mrs.  Jenn was waiting for her at the bottom of the steps to grab her.

She made it!  My sweet girl is off to kindergarten.

Cedar Creek Lake

Chris had his annual Hickman/Weber Memorial Day Party at his lake house and we finally made it this year!  We were worried about the weather but went down anyway, it was cloudy and even rained on us on the way down.  We got there and it was overcast but did not rain a drop!

The kids found the cupcakes... Then they headed outside for a little fishing.  Sophia caught a turtle but it fell off before we could snap a picture.

Time to suit up and get on the boat.

Second trip out on the boat and Seth was O U T!  He was sitting up and on his knees.  The kids had fun "driving" the boat.

Luke was so excited he caught a fish!

We hit the road at 8:00 to head home.  I had all the kids shower before we got in the car.  Seth and Sophia were out quick.

We had a great time and cannot wait until next year!

Vegas: Heading Home

Two nights in Vegas is just the right amount of time!  Last year we stayed three and it was just too much.  Our flight was at 11:00 but would not land in Dallas until 3:20.  We were ready to get home to see Luke seeing as how it was his BIRTHDAY!  Yes, we are "those parents".  We did talk to Luke about it before we booked the trip and he was fine with it.

Ever since Sophia found out we were going to Vegas she kept asking Justin if he was going to get his picture taken with the minion like last year.  Nori sent me this picture from the airport and told me to tell Sophia that she found a minion :)  Thanks Nori!  She LOVED it!

Mimi and Papa took the kiddos to see Avengers 3D for Luke's birthday.  They all said the enjoyed it.  Seth and Papa fell asleep for a little while :)

So glad we were able to sneak away for a couple of days and have a break!  Thanks to Meemaw, Pops, Mimi and Papa for watching our turkeys!

Luke Turns 10!

Luke is now in the double digits!  Seeing as how we are PARENTS OF THE YEAR... we were on our way home from Vegas on Lukes birthday.  Do not worry folks, we did discuss this with Luke before we planned our spur of the moment trip.  He told us that he was fine with it so we did not feel "that" bad :)

Mimi and Papa went and got him donuts that morning and then took him to see The Avengers later that day.  Our flight landed at 3:30 but they were at the movies so we had to wait to see him.

The next day on the way to the lake for Chris' party we let him pick what he wanted for his birthday meal.  His chose Subway, the boy is obsessed with Subway!  We just hate spending $50 on sandwiches but seeing as how we WERE out of town the morning of his birthday we let it slip :)

Luke wanted some new shoes (which he did NOT need) but that is all he asked for!  He got Nike KD's.  He was super excited when he opened them.  I went ALL over the mall looking for this specific pair and 6 stores later I found the LAST pair in his size!  WOOHOO

HAPPY 10TH BIRHTDAY LUKIE!

Vegas: Day Two

Kim and Eric switched hotels to Encore so we headed over there to check out the pool.

Justin and Matt were lobsters from the bad sunscreen from the day before!  Note to self, do not use sunscreen that is provided.

Kim broke her glasses and tried to wear them!

By this time we were all exhausted!  We got showered and headed to The Cosmo to eat at Holsteins.  We all had a huge greasy burger.

After dinner we headed up to Nori's room so we could use the bathroom and pretty much did not make it back down stairs.  We left the guys gambling.  We laid down in the bed and we told Nori she looked dead and that smirk on Adonia's face is priceless!

We all decided it was time for bed, Kim, Adonia and I all went to get our hubby's and head to bed so we could get up and catch our flight in the morning.

The Grants, Mortons, Runges & Stewarts Take Vegas

We did it!  We pulled it off.  We were talking about going to Vegas and just could not pull it together. Justin was covering for Leo who had a baby this week so he was not working.

Saturday afternoon we decided to look at airfare and hotels and booked our flight for 7:00am Thursday morning.  The others were headed out Wed.  Of course Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 I gave Seth a kiss and he felt warm, a couple of hours later he was coughing up a lung.  THIS IS JUST ABOUT RIGHT FOLKS!  He had a 101.6 fever.  Of course it is 4:00 pm and I am leaving the house at 5:30 the next morning.  That's when the call to Dr. Scott comes in!  He called in a steroid and an antibiotic and we started shoving it down his throat as soon as we got it.

The schedule:
Thursday Morning 5:00am Ron here
Thursday afternoon 4:00 Nina here to sleep over
Friday morning Ron back at 5:00 so Nina can go to work
Friday afternoon my parents picked them up to sleep at their house
Saturday afternoon mom and dad dropped the kids to us around 6:00 after the movie.

Ron was going to be at the house about 5:00 am so we could head to the airport to catch the 7:00 flight.  It rained ALL night long and was still raining when we left the house.  It was raining so hard that it was hard to see anything since it was still dark.  When the rain slowed down I could not figure out where we were, I asked Justin and he said that 35 was up ahead.  I questioned him and did not recognize any of the street names... yep, we missed the exit to the airport!  Only by about a mile though so we turned around and got there finally!.

The flight was only about 20 minutes late taking off but landed in Vegas early!  Justin worked the entire flight and was on the phone as soon as the wheels hit the ground.  We landed at 8:00 and we knew everyone else would still be asleep.  We were able to check into our room early so Justin could work.  I met Nori for breakfast and brought Justin something back to the room.  We then met everyone at the pool.  It was nice and low key and we all had a great time... until Justin and I realized we had bad sunscreen :(

We got ready and met for dinner and then headed down to the casino to gamble a little before we headed to Drai's.

Nori's cousin and her husband work at Drai's Night Club so we did not have to wait in line to get in or pay cover.  They hooked us up with the VIP section with a bottle of Vodka which would have cost us $700.  We even got 2 bottles of Vodka!  We got to go sit up behind the DJ and watch evryone dance.

Proof that we are old!  We were all in our wedges (Eric in his Converse) while all the other girls half our age were in 6 inch heels and dresses that barely coverd their goods!

At this point Justin and I had been up for 23 hours.  I was D O N E!  We had a great time and glad we could experience the club scene without the cost!
