Run For The Gold

Luke and Sophia had their Run For The Gold today at school.  Sophia was so excited this morning and kept telling me how tired she was going to be when she got home.

Her run was scheduled for 11:30 and the sun was beating down with no cloud in site.  I had sweat dripping down my back and Seth moaning and groaning he was hot and wanted to go home.

The kids start to come out and line up and I finally see Sophia through the crowd and she is in tears holding the teachers hand.  She would NOT walk or run the track.  She sat on the curb with my sweat dripping on her!  She finally told me that there were too many people there watching and that's why she would not get on the track!  I wanted to thump her and tell her that everyone is not there for her and now they are only looking at her because she is half hysterical!   Folks,  she gets it from her mother!   I take full responsibility for her actions ;)

So, we now have 30 minutes before Lukes run starts.  We can either stand outside and continue to sweat or go sit in the car with the AC blasting!  We sat in the car until it was time for Lukes run.  I could not believe the difference 30 minutes made.  There was a huge cloud blocking the sun and the wind picked up for a constant breeze, it was a nice change!

Luke was excited to see me and ran his heart out!

Another RFTG in the books...7 more to go!

This year the total amount raised for RFTG was $50, 617.62.  Looks like Mrs. Wilkinson and Mrs. Treadwell will be sleeping on the roof!
