Kansas City For Thanksgiving
We headed to Kansas City for Thanksgiving this year. We were meeting mom, dad, Nic and Carlie off of 380 at 8:30 so we left the house at 8:00, had to turn back around when we got to Stonebrook because Justin forgot his phone! Yes, he needed it because he had been up from 11:00 Tuesday night until 5:00 am Wednesday morning and the alarm was going off at 6:00. Needless to say it was a LONG night! I drove the trip up so Justin could rest, when we met my parents, Nic and Carlie, Jonah and Luke hoped in the car with Mimi and Papa.
I must say it was an unevenful trip for the most part. It only took us right at 9 hours.
Stopped for lunch at Braums |
Thanksgiving was at Bob and Kathleens this year. It was so great seeing all the family and I cannot believe I did not take ONE PICTURE! I do not even know who I am anymore!
Friday night Michael, Alaina and Lanita came over for dinner and Sophia was so excited. She had so much fun with Alaina.

Sophia's Kinder Thanksgiving Performance
Kinder performed some Thanksgiving songs on stage at GMA. Some things never change... that is Sophia getting a pep talk to get on stage. Once she did she cried a little and just stood there. At one point when the song had movements she was just standing and I thought she was going to push the kids next to her off the stage if they did not stop their movements! lol

Seth Dental Appointment
Oh good grief! Its time to take all four to see Dr. Jeff. Sophia JUST sat in a chair and did not freak out 6 months ago. Seth was NOT having it 6 months ago and sat on my lap and I was knee to knee with Jeff. This time I was SO proud of him... the hygienist asked if he wanted x-rays, he jumped up in the chair and took the x-rays then walked back to the chair with Sophia, jumped in and opened up. WHAT WHAT? I just stayed in the back so he did not see me. Sophia made herself right at home with her foot propped up on the seat!

Morton Getaway Day 2
It rained most of the night and into the morning so we were stuck inside for the first half of the day. After the rain stopped the kids found the creek behind the house.

After dinner it was time to light the fire for S'mores. The kids could not wait and loaded up on a few a piece. I think my boys just liked catching them on fire the most!
The guys were in charge of cooking the meals. Saturday we had burgers and dogs for lunch and for dinner some steak and baked tators to celebrate Meemaw and Pops 50th.

Morton Getaway
Ron and Nina's 50th wedding anniversary was coming up and all they wanted was to have all their kids together... in one place! It is hard to get us all in one place since Sam and Amy are in Austin, Ronnie and Theresa are in Houston and the rest here in the Dallas area. We booked The Great Moose Lodge in Burnet, TX. The house slept 26 people so that was perfect for the 23 Mortons and two dogs!
I had all the bags packed and took them out on the driveway so I could load them in the car. When I came back out with the final load Seth had the biggest smile on his face and could hardly wait to tell me that he loaded the car when in fact he loaded everything on the gypsy rack! He was so proud and I hated to burst his bubble by telling him we needed all that stuff "in" the car because the cooler, target and bows were going on the rack in the back!
We could not pull the kids early from school because Jonah had a test the last half of the day. So, we got to experience middle school carpool for the first time... and last! We hit the road at 3:40 after we got out of the carpool line and headed south to sit in traffic with the rest of the DFW Friday 4:00 traffic.
We were using Google maps and they told us to not get on 35 but to go around and that saved us a good half hour, I am certain we passed about 2, 000 cars!

It was PITCH black when we finally got to Burnet and we could not see a thing on the old country roads. Needless to say, we missed our turn, then found it and then could not find the house. We FINALLY found it and everyone else was already there! It started raining that night and it rained ALL NIGHT LONG and all of Saturday morning.

Lets just say, these siblings were feeling fine!
Sam may or may not have introduced himself to Theresa... his sister in law!
