Sophia Turns 6!

Sophia turns 6 today!  She has really come out of her shell and we are so proud of her!  I decided to do her birthday at home this year... for some reason :)  I asked what she wanted the theme to be and we came up with Bubble Gum.  She told me she wanted gumball cupcakes, pin the gumball in the machine, to make necklaces and gumball machines as a craft.  Thank goodness for Pinterest!  I quickly got to work on all of her things she wanted.

We decided to have her party on Friday at 4:00 just because it works out so well.  She got home from school and could not wait for her friends to get here.  She could not wait to put on her kitty cat blowing a bubble shirt.  She put the shirt on and the tears came flowing.  I am pretty sure I just starred at her blankly, I could NOT for the life of me figure out what she could be crying for... until the ugly cry and talking started.  Finally I could understand her blubbering and she could not believe that the people who made the shirt WOULD NOT TELL THE LITTLE GIRL THAT THE SLEEVES ARE SO PUFFY, WHY WOULD THEY NOT TELL THE GIRL WHO BOUGHT THE SHIRT THAT THE SLEEVES ARE THIS WAY???  I told her that she needed to pull herself together and she could pick out something else to wear.  She got herself together and decided to just wear the puffy sleeves!

She also decided she wanted her skirt with it. She has been asking for "high heels" for a few months now so I got her some for her birthday, she asked if she could wear them and was so excited... less than 4 minutes passes and she is asking if she can take them off because they hurt!  HA!

Mimi and Grandma Charlotte came to help mom finish decorating

So, the doorbell rang at 4:00 and I kid you not, ALL 10 girls showed up at the EXACT same time and the shrills started.  I am NOT used to girls!  Boys are so quiet and reserved.  The girls are started screaming each others names and hugging each other.

Sophia wanted to do an individual picture with each girl so we printed one off and slipped it in with their thank you note.

Sophia punched out ALL of the "gumballs" for this craft all by herself.
I painted all the beads for the necklaces as a party favor and strung them.

The party was an overall success.  No tears or fighting but pretty sure it was the LONGEST two hours of our lives.  Our ears were piercing from the screams.  No time to waste... we have to clean up and get ready for Atkins party!
