Remi had not eaten in four days and kept throwing up so we decided to take him to the vet. Seeing as how this is NOT his first rodeo (we are CONSTANTLY pulling stuff out of his mouth on a daily basis) we figured he ate something that was stuck.
They did some x rays and saw something and figured it was gas. They started him on an IV so they could then wait a few hours to x ray again so see if it had moved. It had NOT moved four hours later so they decided to cut him open to see what was in there. My poor baby was sliced open and they saw that his intestines and stomach were inflamed and FULL OF GAS! GAS PEOPLE GAS!!! So they "moved the gas through" and sewed him back up.
This picture is when he first got home. Justin and Jonah had to lift him out of the back of the Suburban and he finally walked himself in. He stood in the same spot for THREE hours! He would NOT sit or lay down. It was the saddest thing I have ever seen. he looked like he was in SO MUCH pain.
Let me just tell you what a pain in the _____ this cone is! Pretty sure we will have to repaint and sheetrock the entire house. The skin on our legs is worn off too from him running into us. Remi has slept IN HIS KENNEL EVERY SINGLE NIGHT since we got him over a year ago. Well, he was crying about midnight so I took him out to go to the bathroom and he would NOT go back in the kennel which is so not like him. I finally put him in my room on his bed and he slept there. This better not become a habit! He has to wear the cone for 14 days and at some point have his staples removed.
I think I will take matters into my own hands next time this happens and give him some gas ex and save my $800!
