We got up early to catch the subway to head over to Battery Park to catch the ferry to see the Statue Of Liberty.
We then headed over to Ellis Island and toured that. My great grandparents came through Ellis Island when they came from Italy so I searched for their information and FOUND IT! I was not going to look it up at first until Carlie told me she was calling Nic to see if that is where they came over from. I must say, I got chills when I saw their signatures. I even got walk up the stairs and down the same hall as they did. Pretty cool stuff.
The spelled Nunzio's last name wrong, it was under Seggio instead of Leggio so I put in a request for them to change it. They said that it happens all the time with L's and S's and some other letters.
After we left Ellis Island we headed over to the 911 Memorial. When we walked up to where the Twin Towers used to stand it fell silent and all the memories started flooding back. I will never forget that I was working for Dr. Buskin and my mom called and asked if I had heard from Justin, I told her that I had not, he was on a flight to New York and then Nina called asking if I had heard from him. I had no idea why they were both calling me. My mom then told me what was happening and so I got online and was watching the news. I tried calling Justin but there was no answer. My heart sank and there was nothing I could do but wait to hear from him. I had NO idea what his flight number was or if he which airport he was even flying in to. I continued to call him and still no answer. The phone rang a few hours later and it was him on the other end. I had never been happier to hear his voice! He was so confused and could not figure out why I had called so much and that the airplane landed in another state and the pilot would not tell them what was going on . When they got off the airplane the airport was silent and everyone was staring at the TV's. He asked what was going on and so I explained to him what I had heard. There were no flights going out and no rental cars in site. I cannot even remember how he got one but he did and drove straight home.
The memorial was absolutely breath taking and so emotional. When we went in the section where no cameras were allowed it was very hard to hear all the recordings and see pictures of everyone who lost their lives that day.
We were now on our way to the Brooklyn Bridge. We walked there and thought we might just die! It was hotter than hell and wouldn't you know it... there was a heat wave in NY while we were there. It had not been that hot since 1970 something. We had to stop a couple of times on the bridge and get water from the venders selling it. We were getting fried by the sun and thought Liz might not make it. She got the most sunburned that day!
After we went on the bridge we grabbed a cab to got eat at Bleekers. We almost died in that cab. Not only was there NO AIR CONDITIONING the cab driver next to us had a little road rage problem. Almost hit our cab a few times and was yelling at us. Once we arrived and ate it was THE BEST PIZZA I had eaten.
We then headed over to the Magnolia Bakery for some dessert. Of course we had to take a pic of the apartment where they filmed Sex and The City.
We headed down to Angelo's for dinner before we headed to see ANDY FRICKIN' COHEN on Watch What Happens Live. The food was so good. We thought we were going to have to leave Liz because she forgot her DL and we had to have that to get in to see Andy Cohen.
We made it! We were BEYOND excited to finally be here. Haley and I had been waiting for months to see if we could even get the tickets thanks to Fagans hook up! We went up the elevator and walked out into a room and there was a bar set up and we got two drinks. Haley told them that we had a gift for Andy and wanted them to give it to him. They told Haley to hold on to it and give it to Andy herself because we were going to get to MEET ANDY FREAKING COHEN!
After what seemed to be forever and a day, they called us by group and we lined up. They then let us into the studio which was tiny and sat us all down. They then told us what was going to happen and when we needed to clap and cheer and woohoo! A few minutes later Andy came out and said hello to all of us and he was 5 feet in front of us... coolest thing ever! They then told us who was on and it was Starr Jones and Vanessa Williams.
After the show meeting ANDY FREAKING COHEN! Haley gave him the drawing that one of Scotts nurses had done and I had printed out a card that said, " Thought you could add this to your collection, From the Real Housewives Of Frisco, TX". Then we got our picture with him!!!
A few months later Haley was on Instagram and SAW the drawing leaned up against the wall with our card still on it. THEN a couple of months later a commercial comes on and you see IT HANGING ON THE WALL with the card still on it! So awesome!
