Copied this from someone... wanted to remember. We have looked for toilet paper at Costco every week and never find any. Jonah went to Kroger and found a 4 pack of Scott brand and the limit was one. Later that night I get a text from Fagan asking if we need the toilet paper now or if tomorrow will work. He then said to go get if off the porch. He found a 12 pack somewhere on his way home from LA I am guessing. Great neighbors always looking out for us.
We are now being told that there will be a meat shortage and that stores will limit 3 meat products per person. Farmers are having to throw crops away and cows are dying because they cannot go to the slaughter house. If is very sad and makes you wonder what the heck is going on.
We have been seeing neighbors out front but have not gone out anywhere but to get food and supplies from Lowes. We now are asked to wear a mask when in public.
We just got word from the school that we will be going to pick up the kids belongings that were left behind for Spring Break, it is very surreal.
We are still eLearning and this momma is OVER IT! I think the kids are too. I can't wait to see what the summer will be like. Pretty sure Sky Ranch will be cancelled but still holding on it will go on.
Today is Friday, May 1,2020. We have been on some degree of lock-down because of COVID-19 since March 23.
- We are subject to a Stay-At-Home-Order and if we must go out, for groceries or prescriptions, we must maintain 6 ft/2 meters distance.
- Schools have been closed since mid-March. Graduation ceremonies are cancelled.
- There are lines / tapes inside the stores on the floors to keep people 6 feet apart and to establish one-way traffic in store aisles. In many stores there are plexiglass barriers between customers and cashiers.
- Airline traffic is off by 95%, with many airline flights having only one passenger. My beloved second city home is virtually closed-NYC. Hotels are similarly impacted. The restaurant, movie theater, airline and hotel businesses are experiencing far and away the worst crises in their history.
- There have been 26.5 million jobless claims since March 14.
- Some future oil prices have been less than $0.00 because companies are running out of places to store oil that is not being used.
- Malls and movie theaters have been closed for weeks. Bars and restaurants are open only for takeout, home delivery & pick-up.
- Parks, beaches, hiking trails and walk-in places are not accessible to the public.
- Doctors appointments are by telephone or video chat.
- All major and minor league sports competitions have been cancelled as well as kids’ sports. The Olympics have been deferred. Wimbledon has been cancelled.
- All festivals and entertainment events have been canceled
- Weddings, family celebrations and birthdays have been cancelled. Funerals limited to 10-20 people.
- People are doing drive-by parades to celebrate birthdays.
- Hugs, kisses and handshakes are not exchanged. Not even “high fives” or fist bumps.
- The churches are closed or online.
- Talk show hosts are filming from their basements or front rooms via zoom online. American Idol contestants and judges are performing from their individual homes.
- We have to stay away from each other more than six feet.
- Shortage of disposable masks and gloves in hospitals.
- People are wearing masks, some places even require that you wear them to enter. People are even sewing their own cloth masks for sale or donation to medical facilities.
- It has been largely impossible to find disinfectant liquid or wipes in stores for many weeks. While better now, for many weeks it was also largely impossible to find toilet paper or other paper products in stores for whatever reason. It is now anticipated that there may be meat shortages coming because of infections and closures in meat processing facilities.
- Stores are closing early and opening late to disinfect everything.
Why do I post this?
Next year and then every year after, this status will appear in my Facebook memories feed. And it will be an annual reminder not to take ordinary day-to-day life for granted.
This text is based on anonymous text. I copied it because I want to remember it too.
