League Cup Challenge Tournament

The Dutch Lions played in the League Cup Challenge Tournament this weekend.  It was not looking good weather wise.  It was calling for rain ALL DAY for all three days of the tournament.  We got lucky and only got rained on for the last game for about 10 minutes but then the Finals game was cancelled due to weather.  The boys were bummed they did not get to play the final game.  This puts them in first place in their bracket but second overall with the point system.  

The first game was a WIN 3-2

The second game was a WIN 5-4

This game was played against a team that played dirty and the ref was not calling things at first... then started calling them after Seth was taken out by a smaller kid on purpose from behind, Seth went flying and took air before he landed with his entire body on the ground including his head.  The ref finally carded the kid.  When he hit the ground he actually bounced and so did his head.  Momma jumped up because you could hear him crying on the field.  I waited for Wilco to go and check on him and he was able to walk off the field to the medic on site.  The medic checked him out and said he was ok.  

He was not going to go back in the game but asked coach to go back in.  Wilco was not going to put him back but ended up doing so and just kept an eye on him.  

They kept playing dirty so Seth decided to slide tackle a kid and of course the ref called it.  go figure.  

After the game Seth told me that the line ref warned them before the game that this team was mouthy and would be saying things and to ignore them and they would talk back to the ref.  So ridiculous at this age but cleary they got it from their coach who the ref had to go talk to a couple of times.  

The Third Game was a tie 1-1

As we were heading out to Melissa Sunday morning it started to rain on us, so glad it cleared up shortly after we got there and only rained a little while. Leah brought mimosas for Mothers Day.  The boys were not on their A Game this weekend, not playing well as a team but somehow managed to pull off the wins and a tie.  With this tie we were headed to the playoffs at 6:30 tonight.  The game ended up being called off due to weather and fields being closed.  They were a little upset and wanted to finish the tournament but mother nature had other plans.
