Morton Madness

Even though it was going to be 75 degrees it was still ducky out!  Jonah got his FIRST duck!  They got three Spoonbills this trip.  After they got the ducks they practiced with Remington to go and retrieve them.  He is still trying to get the decoys... he loves getting out there and when Justin is getting his hunting stuff together Remington gets SO excited and is at Justin's heels.  

This year we decided to just pick up bbq meat and make only the sides for the annual dinner.  Not sure why the kids are acting like they do not even know each other they have been doing this since birth!

Of course I did NOT bake the cookies :)  The kids love to do this every year.  

Here it is TWO WEEKS before Christmas and I have yet to get a Christmas card done!  I have NO idea what my problem has been these last few years.  I did not even get a card out in 2014!  I did for 2015 and was determined to do so for 2016.  I thought I had a fun idea with a "oh what fun" banner and all the kids would look thrilled... i.e. rolling their eyes, not looking.  I thought it was for sure a winner!  NOT SO MUCH!  I even let them pick out what they were going to wear... I did not even care!  Then the background was terrible so we scratched that idea! We even tried it again a few days later... NOTHING! The backdrop was still up from Sophia's party so I decided to just do a headshot!  Done and DONE! Not the greatest pictures or card but it will do!  Got them out on December 23rd!  WOOHOO

The coldest day of the year is not going to stop these guys from hunting!  16 degrees and feels like -1.  It was also three degrees cooler where they were hunting! Poor Remi had ice on his back Time to warm up after freezing! Getting everyone a warm drink after the hunt!

One of our traditions each year is getting together with The Hickmans.  This year it was at Charlotte and Lynns.  There was so much food it was ridiculous.  Jonah ate his weight in shrimp cocktail, guess I need to start making that.  Lane dropped by later to visit and it was so great to see him too.   We left there about 11:30 and when we came over the bridge from 190 to The Tollway this is what we saw!  We were STOPPED!  The tollway is closed for construction.  Not only were both East and West lanes coming off of 190 merging onto the tollway but the tollway was one lane so all three of us were exiting and then sitting at the light.   We sat at a stand still for 22 minutes.  We finally got moving and then when I got off at Legacy, it was shut down so we had to go south for the detour.  We finally made it home about 12:30!

The day has arrived!  It's party time folks.  Sophia had a friend Kennedy who moved away after kindergarten and she talks about her all the time.  I got in touch with her mom and she said they were in Prosper and could make the party.  I was not going to tell Sophia that she was coming so that it would be a surprise.   All the girls showed up at once and when Sophia spotted Kennedy she yelled so loud and went and gave her the biggest hug! All the girls were so excited to see her.   Sophia wanted grapes, oyster crackers, cupcakes and pink lemonade I must say, I was a little stressed about how this was going to go... after Sophia's birthday party last year.  The girls all wanted to go upstairs and play but they had some serious crafting to do and I needed everyone out of here at 5:30 so I could get to Garland for the Sherpy/Hickman Christmas.
