Morton Madness

This morning Carlie, Mom and Dad were taking lessons so Dominic was staying with Claire and Brook.  Claire broke her arm right jumping from a swing a few days before we were skiing.  Justin and I took the kids and Noah up for the day.  Poor Sophia's anxiety was through the roof and she worked herself up thinking that she was not going to know how to ski.  I told her that she would remember when she popped her skis on and that it was like riding a bike.  She took it literally and proceeded to yell at me that it was NOTHING like riding a bike!   We got our lift tickets, mom, dad and Carlie to their lesson so we popped our skis on and as soon as Sophia popped hers on she took off and could not stop smiling... until we got to the first chair lift.   It was pretty brutal!  We were downhill and the line was LONG!  Seth was in tears half the time in  line because his foot hurt.  Noah kept falling and then would slide b...

We did not rush out of the hotel because we could not check into the house until 4:00.  We got up and ate breakfast and Justin took his tire next door to have it looked at and everything was fine so we hit the road.   The further North we got the uglier it looked.  The temps and visibility dropped.  The roads were fine but the snow was crazy.  I am so glad that we did not drive this in the dark!  We rolled into Breckenridge around 3:00 and needed to get our skis so I called the property manager to see if we could just unload a truck in the garage so we could pick the skis up.  We went to the house and unloaded the trucks and headed out to get the skis and decided to eat out.  Our first stop was a FOUR hour wait!  We decided to get off the maid street and went to Fatty's Pizzaria.  Dads friend met us there and then we headed back to the house so we could unload everything and get ready to hit the slopes!

Woke up this morning to hit the pavement for CO for Spring Break!  We decided not to take Remington or Winston this year so Nina came and stayed at our house with the dogs.  We stopped at Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo on the way to CO.  We were stopping in Trinidad for the night so we would not have to drive in the pitch black with the weather the way it was.   As we were loading up to hit the road again Nic saw this in Justin's tire.  We did not know how deep it was so left it in there.  We made it to the hotel in Trinidad and ordered some pizza and then went to bed.  Right next door was a tire store so Justin took his truck for them to look at the tire.  They pulled it out and it was fine.  I made these shirts for the littles and they word them skiing everyday but I never got a picture of them wearing them. 

Seth's indoor coach asked if he wanted to play outdoor on his team and Seth jumped on that idea!  It was FREEZING COLD!  It was drizzling and we were popsicles.  

Setheroo turned SEVEN!  Poor kiddo has a birthday during Spring Break.  I love that he thinks that we are going skiing for his birthday!  I did ask if he wanted a party when we got back from CO and he told me no.  After we sang happy birthday he asked if he could put his face in the cake... he thought that was hysterical.  

Sophia and Justin made my birthday cake from scratch with her new cookbook.  It kind of stuck but Justin made it work and it was delicious!   

Since Brielle was sick and missed Sophia's party we had her come over after school and spend the night.  They laughed and laughed.
