The Drive Home

We were not in a hurry to hit the road, we did not want to have to set an alarm or have to sit in Denver traffic.  We hit the road at 9:00 and grabbed some breakfast on the way out of town.  When we got to CO Springs more fires had broken out and we could see them right off the road.  The smoke was horrible and the smell was strong.

We only made three stops and made it home in 14 hours.  Justin had a 5 hour energy about 8:00pm followed up by a Mountain Dew.  We made it all the way to Amarillo before someone asked if we were almost home!  Sophia took her seatbelt off a few times but other than that they were all GREAT on the way home.   Apparently we got out of town at the right time because the fires got a lot worse and they closed South I25 for evacuees.

Sophia had an hour nap and the boys never fell asleep.  FINALLY at 10:30pm they all sacked out except for Jonah.  Finally at 11:30 I told him to close his eyes.  We pulled in the driveway about 12:30, got everyone in bed and then I hit the shower and crawled in bed at 1:15.

Not everyone may know this but Sophia is OBSESSED with her knock off Crocs from Target.  We finally ripped out the liner that was in them because of the smell and the filth that the washing machine could not get out.  Now, her feet sweat and squeek in them and her toenails are black.  I pretty much want to vomit.  She cannot get out of the bath without putting them on her feet!  She is OBSESSED people!  She would also have a fit if they fell off on the car trip.  "my Crocs, my crocs"  So I was terrified that when she finally fell asleep that she would wake up if they fell off (refer to picture below).

It was killing me!  I needed a trash bag.  The next morning Justin took the turck to get detailed.

Estes Park

This morning we got up and headed up to Estes Park.  It is about an hour drive from Brian and Daph's house.  We packed a lunch and had a picnic once we got up there.  Of course I had to feed The Hulk so everyone else went to find a place to hang out.  We could not go where we went last time because of the road construction.  The kids loved playing in the stream even though the water was about 40 degrees.  Sophia was not really enjoying it so I took her and Seth back to the car and watched from there.

The kids had pretend islands and were throwing rocks and having a great time.   After we headed home we headed to Hooters for dinner.  They had NO idea what was about to hit them :)

We could not get a hat to stay on Seth so we covered him with a blanket.

You don't even WANT to know what happened 1 minute before this picture was taken.  The smiles are FAKE...

Rafting

The guys took the older kids white water rafting. They all said that they had a blast and it was awesome!

Before they left for rafting.  Not sure who the thug in the front is.

Brew Fest Ft. Collins

I honestly do not even know who I am anymore!  I, Alison Sherpy Morton took my THREE month old to his first Brew Fest!  I am documenting this so that I have proof in the future that he was able to "do stuff"!  Do not worry, there were a TON of other babies and kids there too.  It must be a CO thaaaaang!

I am not going to lie, it was hotter than a whore in Sunday School!  It was 100 degrees that day in Ft.  Collins and they were on their "record" of FOUR 100 degree days in a row.  ooooohhhhhh four days.

Kylie came and watched the six older kids and we took Seth and Kellen with us because it is normal to take your THREE month old to a Brew Fest AND sit in the 100 degree heat right?  Luckily there was a ton of shade so it was not that bad.  Yes, you read that right... not "that" bad.  Do not get me wrong, it was H O T.

Once we got there we parked, loaded up the kids and started to walk to the end of the line to get in.  I kid you not, it was about three blocks long.  If you prepaid online then that was the line to wait in.  If you were paying cash then you could just walk in.  WHAT?  We were willing to pay for tickets and sick Daph on them to refund us.  After about 15 min of standing in the 100 degree heat Daph came back and said, "come on".  We followed her, walked right up, got carded, an arm bracelet and our tasting cup and walked right in the line that said, "prepaid".  We totally cut in front of houndreds of people and never looked back :)  Such rebels!

These folks all wore tropical shirts, we did not get a pic of the sailor guys!

The babes were sacked out, maybe from heat exhaustion!
