In 9.5 years and four kids The Mortons have never had a broken bone or needed stitches... until now!
I will set the scene: Grannie had been in the hospital for a few days and went to mom and dads after she was released. I went to pick her up to come hang out with us for the day. I went to change Seth's diaper and when I got back to the living room she was under a blanket and asleep. I grabbed Sophia and Seth and headed to my room so she could nap. I was sitting on my floor leaning against my bed and Seth stood up next to me, turned to grab my knee and lost his footing. He fell and hit his face right on the side rail of the bed! He spun around and I grabbed him and when I turned him towards me all I could see was a stream of blood running down his face and it was all over his shirt. I grabbed a wipe to see if I could get the bleeding to stop so I could see where the problem was. Of course it was his eye. After a few minutes it stopped bleeding and it just looked like it was not going to close.
What to do, what to do! By this time, it is 2:30, the boys get out of school at 2:50, Grannie is asleep so I call Dr. Kaplan to see if I should bring him in or take him elsewhere. He told me to bring him in to see if he could glue it shut, if not he would send us elsewhere to get it stitched.
The boys finally get home, I have to wake Grannie up and we all load up in the truck and take off. Of course Justin was in Plano working of all days! I call my dad to see when he will be getting home from work to see if he could meet me to get Grannie in case I had to take Seth to get stitches. I did not need my 92 year old Grannie who was refusing to use her walker to fall and get hurt while dealing with all of this! HA The nurse was able to wash around his eye and Dr. Kaplan was able to glue it shut... thank goodness. By the time we were done, dad was in the waiting room with Grannie to take her home.
Of ALL the days for this to happen it had to be the day Grannie was here fighting me about everything. God love her stubbornness!
As if this was not bad enough! The next day I went to the garage to get something out of the truck, I walk back in the door and Seth had pushed the other door open and was sitting waiting for me RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DOOR so when I opened it... you guessed it! I got him RIGHT on the other eye with the corner of the door. Poor number four.
