The kiddos and I have been going to Mimi and Papas to swim a lot these last few days. Sophia BEGS to go. It really is a whip to get all the kids loaded, suits and sunscreen and dry clothes, floats, goggles and whatever else one needs to swim and head out.
Sophia had TWO weeks of swim lessons last summer. She has refused to swim to this day. A couple of weeks ago she FINALLY got out of the hot tub and in the shallow end at Mimi's. She held on to the side with a death grip. She realized she could stand along the side and her head was above water. I got her an inner tube and she would put that on and bounce along the side.
The next day she was going under water holding her nose and getting her entire head wet! Progress folks. She begged to go back the next day and so we did and she was now holding on the side with one hand, putting her face under, blowing bubbles and kicking her feet.
The next day her float sprung a leak. We talked her into putting arm floats on. She refused at first but then did. She was now swimming a little further from the wall and then jumping off the steps THEN walked to the DEEP end ( 9 feet) and jumped off the side and swam the length of the pool! She is so proud of herself as is momma! YEA SUGAR BEAR!
