We woke up to snow this morning so decided to pack the trucks and hit the road a little earlier than planned since it would be snowing on us for the whole second leg of the trip. As we pulled out of the hotel in the blizzard there were girl scouts selling cookies! We got on the road and were not going too fast since we could not see and it was snowing a good amount. The map told us to turn off the Interstate and head down this road. As soon as we turned off and went under the Interstate is when I got nervous. I am pretty sure Justin was white knuckled too. It was WHITE and you could not even see the road or tire tracks. As soon as we turned I saw a car stopped ahead in the middle of the road. Justin started slowing down and that car started going... sideways and in the ditch. Justin stops and then Nic and then Dad came close to hitting Nic. We got Jonah and Seth up so we could get the tow straps out from under the seat... that we forgot to put BACK IN the truck after cleaning it out. Justin told the guy what to do and we are not even sure how they got out but they did.
About 10 feet in front of us there was a Jeep pulling out 2 other cars that had gone off the road. At this point I am NOT feeling good about this. We keep going and were driving about 25 mph. It was a LONG day and trip. We saw many more cars that had gone off the road and were so happy to finally get there.
We would stop for gas and could not even open the doors because they were iced shut. I must say that was not a fun ride. We made it to the house and it was AMAZING! As we pull into the drive we see 5 long horn sheep and and a heard of deer.
