Spring Break: Day Six

Woke up to NINE inches of snow this morning!  Justin, Sophia and I headed up to go hit the fresh powder.  It was crazy up there, absolutely beautiful!  We could not really see Sophia in her white, thank goodness for her pink helmet.  We make our first run down to the lifts and it was so awesome.  We take the lift up and of course Sophia and Justin take off and I am always behind.  The older I get the more scared I am of hurting myself.  I am going and take a fall, not sure how exactly I did it but I then freaked myself out.  I get up and make my way down and I see Sophia.  My first thought was, "oh crap".  She is the one who goes straight down as fast as she can.  I do not see Justin at this point and so I am thinking the worst.  I get up to her and she is in tears.  She had fallen and landed on her knee, the one that has been bothering her.  She took off to the bottom and was crying the entire way down.  We get to Justin and I tell him that we are done and I will take Sophia back to the condo.  He agreed and he went on back up to go get some more runs in.

Sophia and I take the lift to the other side of the mountain so we can catch the gondola down to town so we can then walk a couple blocks to the condo.  We get back to the condo and we jumped in the shower and started packing up.  We decided we were going to check out early and hit the road and try and get some hours out of the way.

I got all packed up and by that time Justin came in.  He was beat but said it was awesome.  He showered and changed and we loaded up the car and hit the road.  It was only 1:00 so we decided we could make it all the way to Lubbock and drop Jonah and just stay the night there.

The weather was great, roads were dry... until Albuquerque.  Jonah was driving and the skies opened up with hail, only a few minutes work and then then rain and then snow... a lot of snow!  By this time it was getting dark and the semi's were flipping on hazards and going 40 mph.  Jonah finally pulled off asking to switch drivers (momma was relieved because my butt was puckered).  We watched the radar and we just kept driving in to it.  We drove in it for a good two hours and it finally stopped.

We could now try and play catch up on some lost time going so slow.  We rolled in to Lubbock about 1:15 that morning and dropped Jonah Bear off in his empty, dark dorm :(  We then headed to the hotel and crawled in bed about 1:45.
