6:00 am... that is the time we were supposed to meet the Amezcuas and Keisers at the McDonalds on 423 and El Dorado so we could hit the road. We loaded the car the night before so we could just get up and go. We pull out of the neighborhood at 5:45 and Justin had to turn around because he forgot his shaving cream and razor. When he gets in the house he cannot find it, it must be packed. On the road again...
Julianne sends a text that at 5:50 they are 20 min. late. No biggie, we will see them at McDonalds. We stop at Starbucks for a coffee and some breakfast. We head over to McDonalds and see The Keisers having breakfast, we stay in the car waiting for The Amezcuas. They roll into the parking lot at 6:30 and Rob is ready to roll, he did not even park. Rob did not want to really caravan in the first place because he has a schedule and likes to stick to it. He thought we would get upset if we were off schedule but we were not in a hurry to get anywhere.
We finally load up and Rob leads this caravan out of the parking lot, only he turns THE WRONG WAY! The phone calls and texts start hitting Juliannes phone. We continue on the right way... and Rob finally caught up to us off of 380. We were all cracking up although I am sure Rob was a little stressed :) That was a great way to start off the morning, a good laugh.
7:15 am, mile 47 Luke asks when we will be at the hotel. Oh my goodness, its going to be a loooooong day.
7:25 mile 56 Luke starts barfing. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I grab a bag and shoot to the middle row and try to catch it. It worked! Super mom got there in time. We are thinking he got overheated while sitting back there under a blanket and his air vent shut and was reading a book.
7:40 Jonah says he has to poop and Luke vomits again... I call Julianne and tell her we are pulling over and to keep going, DO NOT WAIT ON US! When we pulled over I moved Lukes seat up to the middle row so I could reach him a little better and hopefully this would help not feeling so nauseous.
8:06 Jonah asks when are we going to be at the hotel.
Mile 97 Luke asks when are we going to be there.
At this point daddy and mommy want to start drinking...
8:45 We made it to Wichita Falls and we have to pull over AGAIN so Jonah can poop... or at least we hope he will this stop since he did not the first one! Folks, it is only 2 hours and 15 min. into the 10 hour drive. Are you still with me?
9:35 We pull over because Jonah feels like he is going to barf.
10:30 Mommies turn to go potty :)
12:15 we make it to Amarillo and we actually CAUGHT up to The Amezcuas and The Keisers. Not sure how but we did.
They stopped at Rudy's for lunch but we stopped at Subway and ate fast. We got on the road again and did not want to stop again. I get a phone call from Carley and she said they had to pull over because Landry could not find his itouch. They finally found it in the door and were back on the road only to find out they were heading South... not North. I tell them they better turn around and fast. We kept trucking and I am pretty sure it took them about two hours to catch us. Carley said they were going 105 and she kept her eyes closed.
I am not sure how we made it but we made it to Raton, NM about 3:30 or so. We unloaded the entire car due to break ins because people know you are traveling for Spring Break with lots of expensive ski gear. We got to the room and the boys got their swimsuits on to go swimming in the indoor pool. They were so excited and had so much fun. We decided to have an early dinner so we loaded up and went to Denny's. That was a mistake... The service was horrible and the kids were getting restless, I guess that is what happens when you have 10 kids at a restaurant.
We get back to the hotel and are in bed by 8:00. We were not in a hurry in the morning because we were heading to Ft. Collins to stay with Brian and Daph for the night since our condo would not be ready until Monday. The Amezcuas and Keisers went on ahead to Winter Park since theirs would be ready.
We hit the road around 8:00 and stopped for lunch just outside of Denver with the crew.
After lunch we split and would not see them until the morning.
